A while back VA had a discount code that could be used for (almost) any domestic booking.

Are there any discount codes that work at the moment?

Fair - but in this instance on what basis would it be VA "rejecting" it?

It clearly doesn't fit into some of the above categories.

I understand if it doesn't meet the T&Cs of cashback but I was more suggesting that if it ticked all the boxes - where is the rejection coming from. Your explanation does make a lot of sense though..

We don't know as we aren't the customer who went via the said cashback site and checked all the relevant terms.
I asked if they entered a promo code, but didn't get a response on this, if they did, it's likely that'll be the reason the cashback wasn't valid.
If they have made flight changes after booking, that could be another reason, such as changed dates/flight times/upgrades, if that was in the terms at the time of that offer.
If they ended up booking via the app (auto redirect to app) after clicking the link, that's another reason someone won't receive cashback/tracking.
Ultimately, they will be advised if it was a system error, and if it is valid, they will be paid, if not, they will be updated on why it didn't meet the terms.

Take a look at the terms VA or any retailer with these offers on any of the cash back sites, there are a lot of reasons someone might not be tracked or it might be tracked but not meet the terms.
