Hi guys,
Just thought id see if anyone has experience traveling with Etihad in Y and being a VA platinum.

I see from the VA website that i am entitled to 20kg extra baggage allowance but is this one more bag at 20kg or just added to the 30kg economy baggage allowance. Whats the business lounge in Abu Dhabi like, i believe i can use this as a platinum too.

What are Etihad staff like in recognizing a VA plat? are most of them confused by it for lounge access etc?

Many thanks

Etihad don't have a piece limit, just a weight limit.
I had no problems getting into the lounge or using the priority boarding line at AUH with my gold card.
On the plane from AUH-MUC, flight attendant for my section of the plane greeted me and served me drinks before the other guests, which was an unexpected surprise. It didn't happen on all sectors but it shows that they do recognise VA ff.

Ironically, on that trip, I wasn't allowed priority boarding at Melbourne International.

great, many thanks for the reply ywwol

On an AUH-ATH leg, I was welcomed as a 'valued Etihad Guest Gold member', I clarified that I was Velocity Platinum. I was offerred first choice of meal before take off. No issues with lounge access.

Did LHR-AUH (return over Christmas/New Year)

Lounge access no worries. Onboard recognition zero.

Cool, thanks for the new replies, in terms of the baggage allowance i looked at my e ticket, it said i had a maximum of 30 kg and even if i exceeded it i couldnt have a bag up to 20kg, so confused do i have a 1 peice limit of 50kg for the flight. I might give them a call if no one can clarify here.

Just saw today that etihad have added new benefits for their top level including F lounge access in AUH which will also be given to VA plat's. Should be cool !!

Flew Ath to Auh in Y. Used the business check in and got coughpy lounge access in Ath. That's it

LHR-AUH in Jan. Checkin and lounge access no problem. No fast track. On board recognition zero. Seat selection awful.
Doing MEL-LHR tomorrow so that will be interesting to see if anything has changed.

If you've been keeping up with the velocity threads. Velocity Platinum +1 guest can access the F lounge effective immediately.

Yeah it's great, I had actually started a thread where I aked vvf and they replied to me earlier.
gonna make my July flight through auh a bit nicer now.
