Virgin Australia Platinum Plus Status Discussion

Great. Thanks. Do you know if this is on the record somewhere?
You would think it would be a bit obtuse if bonus status credits (from promotions), which are intended to assist people to get higher statuses, won't count towards Platinum Plus (or Forever Gold for that matter), particularly for the additional restriction of needing a certain portion of the status credits to come from personally earned flying on VA.
Would it be logical to assume that P+ will be treated in a similar manner to Forever Gold? A large portion that has be earned directly by the beneficiary on VA metal and a small portion that can be earned indirectly.
That's already been stated on the website - Platinum Plus needs 1500 of the 2000 status credits to be earned personally by flying VA.

Was just told on the phone that only status credits earned after the launch on 1 October will count towards the annual tally for Platinum Plus. Hmmm...

I went and checked the website and unlike Forever Gold, there's no mention of people receiving the status on day 1, if they have reached the required number of SCs.

I really hope this isn't the case as I'm trying to get to 2000 before 1 October (i.e. earning 2000 since 2 October 2024).

"From 1 October 2025, Platinum Plus will be Velocity Frequent Flyer’s highest published Status level. To be eligible to upgrade into Platinum Plus Status, Velocity members must have a total of 2,000 Status Credits in their Status Credit balance earned during the previous 365 days,..."

That's the terms and conditions and I read that as stating 365 days previous to 1 October 2025. Interesting if there's another interpretation

The article states that VFF will immediately upgrade anyone who have earned enough status credits on 1 October 2025.

iOS App Store update mention PP.
From what I’ve heard it’s launching very soon ahead of October.

Anyone eligible?

Hit the target about a week ago so this is now in the pop up browser in the app when you go to the status page from tapping your user icon.

No other noticeable change within the app that I could see with the overnight update.

I'm curious what colour will be associated with platinum plus to distinguish above platinum, ie: digital boarding pass stays the same colour as platinum or something extra?

I hit the target by booking all my expected travel in March for up to Christmas before the SC earns changed April 2. Mostly Business sale fares (on top of travel since October 2024)

Invited to the pilot, a few noticeable things from me. VIP on boarding pass, can scan into Beyond lounge (not sure if it's a deliberate thing, glitch or just for pilot period) - have accessed it twice already. Staff from the Australian call centre definitely more helpful than overseas ones. To use complimentary upgrade, there's no need for reward seat availabilities just that there are 3 or more cash seats (again not sure if it's for pilot only) and obviously being able to upgrade with Choice fare. Fly Later also useful for when meetings run late.

Beyond lounge access is error. Rest is expected. Plat plus is based off beyond tier (so many system have issue identifying the difference between the two tiers).

Beyond lounge staff are to manually check and view card.

That’s a shame. Would be a nice little surprise. Otherwise no substantial difference with Platinum. Nothing to justify the double spend requirement.

I regularly do around 1000 SC personally and have just taken up a role with extensive domestic travel. If Beyond was on the table I’d work for P+ but as it’s not then I won’t bother and will split travel with QF.
