Virgin Australia Pick Your Bonus Promo - Double Points or Status Credits - Ends 13 June 2025

Just got the email. Small window to book. I'm 25 SCs short of platinum requalification so don't need the SCs right now but the window allows me to push it down the track. The way the email reads it sounds like it's only good for one flight but I'm sure that's not correct.
Small window? It's the biggest window I've seen with either Qantas or Virgin Australia.
Happy to be corrected if anyone has seen a bigger window.

That was my take also. I would like to use it for several flights.

I had given up retaining Plat after having to cancel a trip booked under the previous double credits promo back under the old earning regime... but after getting so close I am seriously tempted to book something!

⚠️ PSA to all that the terms appear to explicitly exclude the Doha flights. Bit different to the QF flights operated by Finnair for example, where I believe Qantas included them for DSC. Excerpt below.

To be eligible for the Pick Your Bonus promotion (Offer) you must (1) Choose your bonus via the Benefit Selector through the Pick Your Bonus Offer landing page between 12.01am AEST 3 June 2025 and 11.59pm AEST 13 June 2025 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) Offer activation, book and ticket an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period and enter your valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking; and (3) complete travel on an Eligible Flight. An Eligible Flight is a Domestic, Trans-Tasman or International Short Haul flight marketed and operated by Virgin Australia flown between 12.01am AEST 3 June 2025 and 11.59pm AEST 29 April 2026 inclusive.

I was looking at this ...however it just seems to be VA metal and VA aircraft.....so not even viable on VA flight number and different metal. Struggling to see just where to go on this for decent Status Credits....even if double without costing a fortune ex PER.

Here's the direct registration link for anyone who didn't get the email:

These are the full T&Cs:

*Pick Your Bonus Terms and Conditions

Tickets purchased on codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines or Virgin Australia operated flights combined in the same booking as a partner or non-partner operated flight are not eligible for this Offer. Eligible members can only choose one benefit as part of the Offer and once chosen cannot be changed.

~Double Velocity Points Option T&C's
To be eligible for the double Velocity Points promotion (Offer) you must (1) Activate the Offer via the Benefit Selector through the Pick Your Bonus Offer landing page between 12.01am AEST 3 June 2025 and 11.59pm AEST 13 June 2025 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) Offer activation, book and ticket an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period and enter your valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking; and (3) complete travel on the Eligible Flight booked during the Promotion Period. An Eligible Flight is a Domestic, Trans-Tasman or International Short Haul flight marketed and operated by Virgin Australia flown between 12.01am AEST 3 June 2025 and 11.59pm AEST 29 April 2026 inclusive and booked and ticketed in a fare class that normally accrues Velocity Points. Velocity Points cannot be earned on Velocity Reward Seat bookings. Tickets purchased on codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines or Virgin Australia operated flights combined in the same booking as a partner or non-partner operated flight are not eligible for this Offer. The Offer is for new Eligible Flights booked and ticketed during the Promotion Period, and changes to existing bookings made prior to the Promotion Period are not eligible. Velocity members will only be eligible for this Offer on base Velocity Points earned at the standard earn rate of four (4) Velocity Points per $1 of eligible spend. Silver, Gold and Platinum members will earn their tier bonus Velocity Points separately. Silver, Gold, and Platinum members also earn a Points bonus in addition to the Base Points earned at the standard earn rate of four (4) Points per $1 of eligible spend with Virgin Australia. Silver, Gold and Platinum members will receive additional Velocity Points as follows:

  • Silver members will receive an additional 50% of Base Points earned;
  • Gold members will receive an additional 75% of Base Points earned; and
  • Platinum members will receive an additional 100% of Base Points earned.
The Points bonus does not apply to Economy Lite fares. Base Points refers to the minimum number of Points that can be earned for an eligible activity or transaction by a Red member, before the double Points bonus is applied. A Velocity member who has earned Points on spend with an eligible Velocity Points earning credit card within the 12 months prior to flying with Virgin Australia or Link Airways will earn five (5) Base Points per $1 spent on the All-Inclusive Fare when flying on a Virgin Australia operated flight with a VA flight number, or a Link Airways operated flight with a VA flight number. Velocity members who do not hold an eligible Velocity Points earning credit card within the 12 months prior to flying with Virgin Australia or Link Airways will earn four (4) Base Points per $1 spent. You should allow up to four (4) weeks after satisfying the above eligibility criteria for the bonus Velocity Points to be allocated.

^Double Status Credits Option T&C's

To be eligible for the Double Status Credits promotion (Offer) you must: (1) Activate this Offer via the Benefit Selector through the link contained in this email between 12.01am AEST 3 June 2025 and 11.59pm AEST 13 June 2025 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) after Offer activation, book and ticket an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period and enter your valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking; and (3) complete travel on the Eligible Flight booked during the Promotion Period. An Eligible Flight is a Domestic, Trans-Tasman or International Short Haul flight marketed and operated by Virgin Australia flown between 12.01am AEST 3 June 2025 and 11.59pm AEST 29 April 2026 inclusive and booked and ticketed in a fare class that normally accrues Status Credits. For more information on Status Credits, click here. Tickets purchased on codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines or Virgin Australia operated flights combined in the same booking as a partner or non-partner operated flight are not eligible for this Offer. The promotion is for new Eligible Flights booked and ticketed during the Promotion Period, and changes to existing bookings made prior to the Promotion Period are not eligible. Status Credits cannot be earned on Velocity Reward Seat bookings. Bonus Status Credits will be applied to the originally purchased fare class. Any upgrades (other than payment of a full commercial fare) will not attract bonus Status Credits. Eligible Flights that satisfy the above eligibility criteria are eligible to earn double Status Credits than the Status Credits that would normally be earned for that flight and fare class. There is no limit on the number of times this Offer can be redeemed. Where multiple guests are listed on the same booking, only those guests who satisfy the above eligibility criteria are eligible for this Offer. You should allow up to four (4) weeks after satisfying the above eligibility criteria for the bonus Status Credits to be allocated.

I'm sorry to say that this promo is a pass from me. I'm no longer invested in maintaining Velocity status since the recent changes, and this isn't really enough to change my mind.

Ditto ... Virgin have blown it big time. Shot themselves in both feet with their American six guns.

Masses of once happily loyal Status chasing elites who'd be over this, will now just yawn like you and I, and others.

And we can all FINALLY see on our Velocity pages (took them 6 months to work out how to do it) our path to 'Forever Gold' - I was way over the required 12,000 SC limit, but this dumb '9000 needed on VA flights', is just absurd. 50% or even 75% made far more sense, and would have p!ssed off far fewer once loyal elites. I'd easily cross those bars, along with many others. It is just GOLD for goodness sakes, not Platinum Plus!

After 10 quite profitable years for Virgin, I'm done with playing the Chasing Virgin Platinum game from this year on, and will not be alone, as heaps of posts on this board show. Double qualified for Platinum this year already, but with this cheapskate ill-thought through 'Lifetime Gold' deal, and the new silly SC earn Regime, just of no interest to chase.

We will now just book Lite fares or use miles, if we need to fly Virgin - making them way less money, but getting all the Platinum benefits and row 3 etc, for 2 years to come. Win for me - LOSE for Virgin - clever stuff from our American owners.

Yep. Have to agree on all of your points.

Just to add that one of the benefits they have really killed with the new "X SCs earned via personal bum-on-seat on VA code or metal" requirement is family pooling: I can now see from the forever gold calculator that family pooled SCs count for neither the pooler or pool-ee in terms of this requirement.

My kids, for example, who have absolutely flown on VA metal, but have only ever pooled SCs to one of their parents, are sitting on 0, so while those SCs (presumably) count towards the overall total for the person they were pooled to, neither person gets the benefit of those SCs for the "travel on VA" requirement.

In fact, one of my kids is sitting on -40 VA SCs. I'm not sure how that's even possible...

I'm way closer to FG than I thought I would be. 75% of the way there. Sadly I have only 4000 SCs from VA marketed and/or operated flights so would need 5000 SCs more. The 9000 SC qualifier is too high given VA's INT and DOM network. I'll end up getting 13000+ SCs to get the 12000 needed for FG.

The major issue I'm seeing is their long haul international partners.
Not expanding these promos outside their domestic and short haul is short sighted in my view.
When you are competing against Qantas with an extensive long haul network of its own, the least they could do is include their long haul partners in promos like this.
So earn status on short haul VA metal, get status but no lounges available on these SH routes.
No inclusion of their wet leased long haul with Qatar Airways let alone no inclusion of long haul partners in their promos.
All a little perplexed by this as they recently boasted about their return to long haul (wet leased QR).

Joining the choir here but all I'll say is that when QF ran a DSC promo earlier this year, I booked a leisure trip in J that I've wanted to do but wouldn't have booked at that stage or in J but for the DSC.

I'm Plat on VA, and this DSC promo is of no interest to me.

Take from that what you will --- what I take from it is that VA doesn't care, given how far they moved the goalposts. All the best to them with their Wonderful™️ strategy and promo.

I will certainly look at using the double SC. As I now stand I think I would have been just short of retaining Platinum and now by booking what I probably would have booked anyway I expect to be able to maintain it. I need to work it out a little more however I think this works for me.

I’ll have no problem retaining status or better but have a few last minute flights to book for football and rugby and stacked in conjunction with the Business flyer offer it’s not too bad at all.

opposite really for me. I prefer ex PER VA for good so called short connections or to the likes of Fiji and maybe Samoa. Currently on SQ flight to SIN and have others booked and I feel VA should have included this so called promotion on VA flight numbered non VA metal. It's hard enough not even choosing seats on such flights and again really questions why should anyone book via VA unless something is given in return.

Is the double status credit promotion also valid for economy lite fares?

I think so. The T&Cs were a bit ambiguous but after reading them 3 times, I'm pretty sure Economy Lite is included.

Note that Economy Lite fares earn a base rate of 1 status credit per $24 spent, so if you're after status credits it would make sense to at least book Choice.

VA want the IPO to take off before the lower future numbers will occur through the major devaluation.
Desperate and they look to have it finally.

Rush in a DSC to attempt to boost last minute figures before the VA IPO book build & insto's fill.

Bring in a top tier Global partner on Qatar yet don't include them in this DSC promo, my goodness, can I steal a term from a fellow poster....BrainFart all round here!

This DSC offer will be hugely lower bookings than previous, this thread pays reference to that.
