Just got this email from Virgin. Whilst it changes nothing for the majority of us with status (using our tier baggage allowance), for some with additional bags, it'll be important:

*Airport Baggage Fees will apply for guests purchasing additional baggage at the airport for same-day travel.
Guests have the option to pre-purchase up to two pieces of baggage before their Virgin Australia operated flight, in addition to what is included in their fare and Velocity tier allowance. It is recommended that guests pre-purchase any additional baggage prior to arriving at the airport, as pre-purchasing additional baggage online is up to 45% cheaper than purchasing additional baggage at the airport.
