An FA I was chatting to the other day mentioned that the E190s are starting to be reconfigured but it is going to take until early next year to finish.

BUt that doesnt mean the first 1 will come then does it? I would be expecting the first one by July 1!

Friend called up plat desk this morning and was given a full refund - taxes.

Not bad.

Great outcome, though any explanation of what went wrong?

Nope, just lots of apologies.

The crew on the flight were amazing, they just had no clue that J service existed on EJets.

Yet we were served drinks from the regular menu in Business Class glasses, very strange...

Very odd. Almost unbelievable. At least they refunded the money for your friend.

So, not that amazing then? Honestly, I don't fly J yet I knew it was sold on Ejets. As I said......what cave have they been hiding in? Didn't know doesn't cut it and I can see DJ starting to slide back into the red soon if they can't manage to chew the mouthful they've biten off. Their current business plan must have been made by their current F&B manager..........Piss off our existing clientele and match that by pissing off our new and expensively won over clientele. I may only be a small business owner, but even I know that's fraught with consequences of the negative kind.

I guess the upside for me is, I'll get our old LCC DJ back fairly soon......or alternatively, they'll go the same way as Ansett and we'll be left with QF, JQ and TT. Wonderful :(

I wouldn't get too excited there :)

My guess is that they will eventually rise up to the minimum standard required to maintain a certain percentage of PE or J class paying passengers.

If I had to guess, I'd say this will centre around ironing out the wrinkles with the in-air product. They pretty much have lounge, PB, PSecurity and priority baggage working. Until they decide, if ever, to join a global alliance the FF scheme is probably not going to get 'better' for us punters either. They need better outcomes with in-flight food and rogue planes.

Whilst the hard and soft product can probably be argued ad infinitum, I suspect that what we currently have is mostly all where going to get - but they desperately need to work through consistency issues with their customer facing product in the air.

Wow - This post sums up exactly what is happening and what needs fixing!

I've flown DJ's new J BNE-MKY and MKY-BNE. Much better than QF IMHO. Couldn't be bothered waiting around another hour or so to fly J back on the last trip so we Y on the all Y 737(I think)

My first E-Jet flight over the weekend in "J"

2-2 seating, I was the only 1 in "J"

Service was business class in terms of the snack etc, but orange juice and no mocktail

A silly little grey curtain divider above the row 2 J seats, but nothing in the aisle, which was strange

I flew recently on an E-190 in 'Business' and while the aircraft seemed to have been refitted with the newer seats. the 'Business' seats were simply the old premium seats recovered with new charcoal/black leather seats.
The seats were 2-2 configuration and a tiny curtain behind row 2 but no partition so the kid in row 3 kicked the back of my seat intermittently.

I have seen pics of a 1-2 configuration that show a similar cabin to the 737-800's but the aircraft I was on (VH-ZPD) was far from this.
If it wasn't for the Luke Mangan menu I would have rated the experience on this aircraft as 'cough'

:-(

3 flights on the E-Jet all different aircraft, NONE refitted and no F/A's have heard of any refitted E-Jets

I do chuckle at this though Why Everyone Wants to Fly Business « Virgin Australia Blog

Privacy: Enjoy room to move and distance from your neighbour. Business Class seats are roomy than the rest.

If you’re a frequent flyer, flying internationally or a business traveller it makes sense to fly Business Class. In a nutshell, benefits include: speedy check in and boarding, and second-to-none comfort, flexibility, personal service and privacy.

While i sympathise with your frustration those statements are actually correct - even on an E-Jet. [Albeit it not by much]

That's how I saw the seats...I was in row 3 last night, SYD to CNS. Flight was probably 50% full. Being a late flight, 1930 dep., lights were dimmed in cabin and gave op to most pax to sleep. Overall, an enjoyable flight.

Btw, The Lounge was pleasant experience. Lots of food, attentive staff, lively environment. Much better than Qantas Club, IMO.

I assume you are referring to the SYD DJ lounge? Is it a sit down and order type of lounge? Or is it mainly self serve? Referring to the food and drinks selection.

Yes, SYD lounge. All Self-serve, save for beers served at bar. Wines are self service. No spirits though. Food was tandoori chicken and rice, 2 soups, sandwich station, fruits.

Varied seating options, entry side overlooking Tarmac, other side facing car park. Staff smartly dressed and obliging.

In addition, they do occasionally bring around a plate of LMPPs (Luke Mangan Party Pies) or mini pizzas. They don't just put them on the buffet - I think that discourages the men in suits from running to the buffet and taking 5 pies each like in the QP!
