VA863, the 1645 hours MEL - SYD also diverted to CBR with B738 VH-VOL airborne from the latter at 1939 hours. Arrival should be at 2028 mid evening, 138 late.

With the curfew less than 15 minutes away on Friday 22 November, VA989, the 2000 hours SYD - BNE (B738 VH-VUW) was still taxiing in SYD as at 2248 hours.

UPDATE: This VA989 took off at 2254 hours to the south.

VA670 (ATR72 VH-FVZ) took off at 2314 hours, after curfew but presumably with a dispensation so will be three and a half hours late arriving in CBR ex SYD.

VA894, the 22 November 2019 scheduled 2100 hours SYD down to MEL was airborne at 2329 hours with B738 VH-VUS.

The 2130 hours SYD - BNE (VA999, B738 VH-VUG) took to the sky at 2331 hours, well past curfew of 2300.

VA886 (1930 hours SYD - MEL that departed at 2258) did not take off until 2335 hours, long past the supposed SYD curfew of 2300. However the key is obtaining ATaC permission to take off by 2245 hours.

It isn't just QF that has problems with TransPacific flights. B773ER VH-VOZ was meant to be on the Friday 22 November 2019 scheduled 2015 hours LAX down to MEL VA24, but this looks to have been delayed overnight as it took off on Saturday 23 at 1031 as the amended 1000 hours VA24D. On Sunday evening 24, it's arriving at 2021 hours, 806 minutes behind schedule.

In another TransPacific delay, VA9, the 2215 hours Sunday 24 November BNE - LAX (B773ER VH-VPF) was airborne on Monday 25 at 0121 hours with suggested arrival 1953 hours, 158 minutes late.

Sydney has had storms on the afternoon of Monday 25 November so it's not surprising that there's quite a deal of late running, with VA862 (1630 hours SYD down to MEL) not airborne until 1711 hours. B738 VH-YFZ should arrive at 1835 in the early evening, half an hour behind.

VH-YIW is on VA144, the timetabled 1600 hours AKL - SYD up up and away at 1639, about 20 late. It has held offshore, so at gate arrival is nominally showing as 1813, 33 late.

VA1179 (1630 hours ABX up to SYD in the sky at 1650, only 10 minutes late) has ATR 72 VH-FVP with estimated arrival 1839, 44 late as at 1813, the aircraft was holding north of scenic Wombeyan Caves.

VH-YIH is the 1630 hours MEL - SYD airborne punctually to 1642, but then the music stopped with a lengthy hold above Marulan. It is displaying an expected at gate arrival of 1855, an hour late.

VA874, the 25 November 2019 scheduled 1800 hours SYD - MEL was in the sky at 1940 with B738 VH-YFK, so at gate arrival should be about 2125 hours, 110 minutes tardy.

ATR72 VH-VPJ on the 1905 hours SYD down to CBR, VA670, took off at 2024 so arrival has become 2115, 70 minutes behind the timetable.

As at 2135 hours on Monday 25 November 2019, there are at least 35 aircraft (of all carriers) on approach to SYD in the area from Boorowa in the south (near Yass) to the Barrington Tops National Park (near Gloucester) which is an extraordinary number. Then there's aircraft trying to depart, and only 85 minutes before the official curfew kicks in.

VA1535 is one example, with this 1635 hours HBA up to SYD aflight airborne at 1927 with B738 VH-VOO. It held south of Cowra and is arriving SYD at 2154 hours, 209 minutes behind the timetable.

VA1429, the 1915 hours SYD - CNS (B738 VH-YFV) took off at 2132 hours with arrival at 2325 hours, 125 minutes tardy.

The 1705 hours BNE down to SYD, VA948, was airborne at 1908 with VH-YVC arriving at a suggested 2155 hours, 135 late.

VA883 is another MEL - SYD that given the huge number of aircraft trying to approach SYD as at 2215 hours on Monday 25 November, appears to have given up the ghost and is returning to MEL. This is the 1900 hours ex MEL up up and away at 2112 with B738 VH-VUZ. MEL arrival should be about 2305, 160 minutes after it was meant to arrive in Sydney.

But strangely it's still heading to SYD, maybe they changed their minds.

As noted, dispensations from the curfew seem to be easily given out at present. Perhaps this is a factor given they'd presumably have enough fuel to hold for c.90 minutes if required?

VA1141, Tuesday 26 November's 1335 hours SYD up to BNK was airborne at 1425 with B738 VH-VUV. Arrival should be at 1529, 39 minutes late.

Confirmation would be great, but it appears that as at 1800 hours on Tuesday 26, SYD is down to single runway operations using the east-west.

VA866, the 1700 hours SYD - MEL was at 1803 well back in the queue for takeoff so it is likely to be at least 70 minutes late arriving in MEL.

VA162 from WLG to SYD is arriving at 1811 hours, 31 minutes late with B738 VH-YIU. There is a large number of aircraft waiting to take off as at 1810 hours, even though Tuesday is normally the quietest weekday for air travel.

Even later on 26 November, VA978 from BNE down to SYD, the 1805 hours that took off at 1958 (B738 VH-VUG) is arriving at 2217, 97 minutes behind the timetable.

On Thursday 28 November's early morning, VA9903 (B738 VH-YFK) is an 0600 hours MEL - CBR that took off at 06457 and for which arrival should be 0744, 39 late. This may be an empty ('ferry') working, or an extra.

VA170, the 0705 hours WLG - SYD was not in the sky until 0929 hours so arrival for B738 VH-YIS is 0938 hours, 48 late.

Thursday 5 December sees VA569 SYD-PER (B738 VH-YIA) with revised arrival at 22 14, 69 late.
VA1429 SYD-CNS (B738 VH-VUP) is suggested to arrive at 22 42, 82 min behind.
VA886 SYD-MEL (B738 VH-VUE) is predicted to arrive at 22 08, 63 min tardy.
VA346 BNE-MEL (B738 VH-VOS) has a worse arrival, which is expected at 22 47, 92 behind schedule.
