Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

Wife's flight VA413 departing 0930 25th June 2025 ADL-SYD cancelled due to weather event in Sydney. (high winds) She is now on 0600 flight. Cross fingers she arrives as we are off to Thailand tomoorow.

Winds due to increase from 0800, using two runways at the moment with cross wind already in double figures, would not be surprised if the go to 07/25 ops from 0800.

Sorry, what does 07/25 ops mean? I am in OOL at the moment and I was on the 4:20pm flight. I changed it to the 2:20pm flight incase they decide to cancel my flight. (if that is the case then we will have to drive back to Sydney as our flight tomorrow to Thailand is at 7:55am) which means hire car etc....(I haven't even packed for the Thai trip yet) Haha

Single runway operations using the east west runway (07/25). They have updated the forecast to indicate the winds will pick up an hour later at 0900 local and issued a warning

Thanks for that. My wife just landed and she said it it the worst she has ever experienced. Now to sort out my flight.

It was late however they must have made up some time as it wasn't to bad. Arriving back into Sydney it was very bumpy. We landed from the east on the East West runway however when we made the approach there wa hardly any bumps for a smooth landing. I am now in coughet enjoying the humidity.....

On Tuesday 1 July 2025, strong southwesterly winds have resulted in SYD only using the east-west runway, with arrivals from the east.

Many flights are likely to be delayed. VA845, the 1300 hours MEL-SYD (B738 VH-VOO) took off at 1359 hours with gate arrival likely at 1544, 79 late after a lengthy holding pattern over the Cullerin Ranges (between Yass and Goulburn, NSW).

VA departures board in SYD this morning. Feeling very lucky to be on VA 806 this morning after my original flight (VA 892) was cancelled last night. To VA’s credit, the call centre picked up immediately when I called after the cancellation and put me on the earliest possible flight
