Not HBA-BNE but did BNE-SYD today with 3:05pm departure which was a lunch service according to the FA. Choices were a beef Reuben sandwich on brown bread (my description) or vegetable quiche. Both were substantial, together with the standard cheese / crackers and chocolate heart.

Had the quiche and quite tasty including Caramelised onion and a side of steamed potatoes with a tomato relish / sauce

as a Brisbaneite living in Melbourne, I HATE daylight saving.

At the risk of going OT, ;) Daylight saving works in Melbourne, but not as much so in Brisbane. Brisbanites are morning people (I have discovered)

For the record, I voted against Daylight saving in the early noughties in WA for the same reasons, plus it was going to fade the curtains.

But I enjoy it in South Eastern Australia.

Go figure.

Sprucegoose, it has been scientifically proven that daylight saving no longer fades the curtains due to the modern day material curtains are made from and the pollutants in the air caused by climate change which become dispersants for the harmful rays previously the cause of the problem.

I appreciate your reassuring comments, GT. I knew Climate Change had to be in the mix somewhere.

But how will the Roosters know what time to crow 🤣

As a Sydneysider living in Brisbane I hate both the LACK of daylight saving and the noisy minority who complain that it will fade the curtains/confuse the cows/stop the children from going to sleep etc.

Unfortunately neither political party here has the cojones to get it done, despite a majority Statewide that would vote for it and an overwhelming majority in the South-East corner. 🤬🤬🤬

VA705 HBA-BNE, 2:10pm departure.

Something I’ve never seen before on any airline for the meal options. The CSM came around the cabin with a tablet, which showed the two dishes on offer with a brief description. Even, IIRC, the size of the plate, so you get an idea of how large the serving is.

Brilliant. I had the green curry, which was not far short of what I'd have at home, and exactly as illustrated. My sister had the macaroni, which she said was very nice too.

Cheese and crackers, of course and some chocolate mousse concoction.

PDB choice of still water, orange juice or sparkling. I had a gin and tonic later and a Pinot Grigio with the meal.

Out of MEL yesterday for dinner we were back to the…

… chicken mustard mash or the gnocchi :(

The chicken wasn’t as good as I remembered.

No basil leaves?

I've only seen the tablet pulled out when I need to ask if they contain things I can't eat (yay allergies!)

You got an actual dessert/sweet and not a chocolate?

I've often had the CM show J pax what the meal looks like. Used to be from a printed service document now it's on the iPad. Makes deciding very easy!

Is this a new swizzle stick? The round bit at the end seems to be mixing my drinks better than before, or was it just that the the CM put the whole miniature into the glass with the mixer, so I noticed that it needed a good stir.

Just a reminder that pantry items are always onboard at Virgin, even if they are not offered!

Just ask the CM what's onboard for your flight.

Couple of meals over the past few weeks

Carrot Cake Bircher - CBR-BNE

IMG_8441.jpeg

Mushroom Bruschetta - BNE-MEL

IMG_8936.jpeg

Corn Fritters - ADL-BNE

IMG_9368.jpeg

Really loved the heirloom tomatoes with the corn fritters.

Just wish they could warm the pastries - would be so much more enjoyable.
