Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

That's poor, especially for a decent length flight like OOL-MEL, I'd be punching the call button to get a couple more refills of wine post-tray clearing.
I don’t know what they do disappearing down the back!!

They do it on more than half of the flights I have been on… so it’s not a one-off responding to an emergency or something.

Given the only service down the back is water, as well as tea and coffee on some flights, it’s not like they are assisting with the meal service.

It’s not great when pax are often sitting there with finished meal trays that aren’t being collected.

Checking on your crew because who knows what might be happening down there.

Seeing your crew because you are often alone up there and it's good CRM.

Could be dealing with a situation in Y class.

Going on a break however someone should visit and see if J class is fine.

Getting away from rude J class as it could be the last straw before they lose it?

Who knows, there's a lot of scenarios. You could be drinking very fast and instead of RSAing your butt,.leaving and "spacing out" the time between drinks could be easier.

To be fair to this particular CM, the selfie-taking "influencer" type across the aisle from me was probably someone I'd prefer to avoid if I'd been working that flight... 🤣 It seemed every crew interaction with her was hard work.

I was driving at the other end, so I guess turning down the one (and only) refill offer sent a signal. And fair enough.

So are you saying that for flights like that we have to stay in business class and continue topping up your wine glass and not go check up on our colleagues? 😋

There's actually next to no time to do anything on a flight that short. If doing 4 of these we try and go see our crew because you know, that what a good CM should be trying to do.

If you're drinking wine like water then probably a bit different where we would hold back a bit and follow RSA guidelines! I stopped topping up someone because they refused to drink water 🫠

Just flew SYD-MEL ... Really full flight. Already quarter hour late due to lightning causing a tarmac stop. Left a further 10 minutes late after about 10 PAX were unable to stow their carry on due to full overheard and had to be coaxed into letting them be gate checked.

After all that, CSM still managed to serve PDBs in Business.

Proactive with regular top ups of St. Hallet Shiraz and sparkling water.

They even came out with a Pantry tray.

Choose the warm offering, chicken with rice, capsicum, chilli and broccoli.

It was reasonable, with good flavour.

This is not alcohol related! In fact none of my flights people have been drinking more than a couple of glasses.

What would be nice is when pax have finished their meals the trays can be cleared so we can work, watch IFE, or use the WC.

Most of the time when the CM heads down the back we’ve all only had a single drink to accompany our meal.

CM comes back later to collect trays and offer top ups.

If the CM has been down the back, and pax do want a second glass of wine or a G&T, it has to be rushed because we’ve reached the start of descent.

That actually looks very good! And a decent portion to boot.

Meanwhile I'm playing the game "how fast will pax eat and how fast can I collect the trays"

I've left J class to go to the back however it's been a hot minute as I have trays to clear!

I don't like having the trays out unless a pax takes their time eating to which I'll leave it and tell them to tell me when they're done.
