Re: Virgin 1 step closer to Singapore Alliance

Opening a lounge shouldn't stop other areas of business operating in other areas. in the scheme of things it's quite minor. I know you keep saying so much more is coming, but at the moment it's not an enticing proposition. And big mistake not introducing IFE on the new planes straight away..

From what I had heard they ran into some commercial issue (licensing) with the IFE, so weren't in a position to introduce it.

Re: Virgin 1 step closer to Singapore Alliance

I agree about the IFE. Now the new BSI's will have to be re-fitted to place the ife in, i think that it will be announced in time before the re-fitting of existing cabins start so they can put the new ife and seats/cabin in. But you never know it may not be a seatback option ;), but i hope it is, cant stand portable devices.

Gave up on IFE a long time ago. Got a 8 hour laptop with a 1 TB drive. Now have 350 movies and 200 CD that I like. Who needs IFE especially if you have a good book to read as well and a nice Shiraz to sip along the way. ;)

Re: Virgin 1 step closer to Singapore Alliance

Agree IFE, almost seems like a legacy technology now even though I clearly remember SQs massive marketing campaign when seatback Krisworld on miniscule screens went live. back then of course laptops weighed 10kgs and only worked for 35mins on battery power. I'd trade IFE for portable device power anyway. Of course if the airline wanted to give me an iPad port and allow me download single view movies from their system I wouldn't object to that either.

Meh way too much work.

Seatback AVOD is really the only thing they can do that will tick the box.

Just improve RED a bit and roll it out. Done. Or just copy On Q.

Hopefully this expands the options a bit. I am heading for China in a few weeks and when I book I had only 2 options, Air Asia and China Southern, unless I wanted to literally double the cost. Possible this alliance will mean nothing as far as reasonable fares go but hopefully it helps. Would prefer points and lounge access but I don't thing doubling the cost is smart either. (I'm not a millionaire).

Is there any update on when Velocity Rewards points will be earned on Singapore Airlines? I'm travelling Singapore Airlines in just over a week. I've requested my QFF Status Match to Gold, so hopefully that comes through before then (but I know they are saying four weeks). At this stage, I have my KrisFlyer number down against the booking, but if Singapore Airlines earn comes online before I travel I will change to my Velocity Rewards number.

Five letters in the word - VA announces they have purchased TIGER airways and will improve its on-time reliability and operate in a JQesque manner on key leisure routes :?:

Looks like I was only 18 months early with this prediction :D
