So im trying to book Syd-Hkg return.

Virgin Australia: 1250 Aud
Virgin Atlantic: 1150 Aud
Webjet: 950 Aud

same date, same time, same flight even.. i mean.. cmon..

is the webjet flight with Virgin Atlantic? Book it if you're absolutely sure of no changes to be made, as I've heard horror stories of what a nightmare it is to deal with them

yip, all 3 are the same flights.. (all on virgin atlantic)

yeah unlikely ill be changing the flight dates around so will probs book with webjet..

Apart from JQ, do any airlines price match if presented with evidence like that?

Qantas do if it's a fare on their metal.

Thanks. So main benefit of dealing direct with airline would be ease of change? The only time I tried to change a long haul flight I was on a discount fare and the fees to do so were prohibitive, so I've always assumed changing a cheap ticket is not a realistic preferred option.

And avoiding the fees agents charge for changes etc above what the airline charges.

I recently travelled to HKG with VS the diff over VA was $500 when I booked. I belive the ticket I had was the cheapest fare class ($1800 Y+?)

I changed my return flight home on same day i wanted to travel and all they charged was AUD$50. Pretty good I thought.

Are they all the same ticketed fare class? One may earn more SC's

yeah same fare. same flight. For November.

Anyways, booked it via webjet in the end. Not sure if ill be earning more status credits or not but I'm not sure it'll be worth the extra 300 dollars regardless.

Ive never really had to change flights before but I'm guessing whether through web jet or directly via airline, it would make any difference if i really had to (they will still charge you a mozza on the cheap fares..)
