$1 airline seats to go on sale | National Breaking News | News.com.au

VIRGIN will be selling 1000 $1 plane seats exclusively over the internet tonight.
Seats on flights going from Canberra to Sydney, Canberra to Coolangatta, Port Maquarie to Sydney and Albury to Sydney will be on sale for one hour from 8pm (AEST).
The sale is to celebrate the first anniversary of Virgin flying jets between these destinations

ABX to SYD ay?mmm, thinks,I wonder how much they'll charge to bring me home again.?

8.05pm and no sale? Perhaps that AEST is Brisbane time, which means 9pm Syd / Cbr / Mel time?

Did anyone receive an email about the sale with a direct link to the fares? They don't appear to be on the site at the moment. If anyone has a link it would be great if you could post it. Thanks

The one-hour (or until sold) internet-only sale of 1000 tickets, starting at 7pm Queensland time today (8pm daylight saving time), will offer the $1 fares, inclusive of taxes, across the four city pairs on the Virgin Blue network

Is this a scam?

8PM AEST is 9PM AEDST , Virgin is based in Brisbane hence the lack of reference to daylight savings!

Perhaps they are just testing the water to see how many hits they would get on the website?

Fares still don't look to be loaded, but there is now a promo banner on the homepage. Clicking it goes to a generic specials page that doesn't have any mention of $1 flights.

Its on!

Link is up on the home page - goes to specials page where it's nowhere to be found.

Line up the ducks guys!

Now seeing availability in May (eg SYD- Port Macquarie / SYD - Albury) for $1 on 5 May,

Booked ool-cbr for $2 in may - sweet!

$49 is the cheapest fare showing now - 9.08 pm - another great offer

Sale is still happening ... I'm seeing $1 in May and early June for most days on the routes. Can't find anywhere the valid dates of the promo though.

Booked like 15 sectors for $1 on SYD-CBR-SYD.

Would have booked them anyway, so saved a fair bit!

Still good variety sydney port return in May

Booked a weekend away in Canberra for family of 4 in May for $8. I've not been to CBR yet, and for $8 for the 4 of us, it's a cheap start.

Thanks Mal! If it wern't for you I'd still be refreshing the Specials page. Got the family a cheap weekend down in Canberra to visit the museums and such!

$8 for a family of four
