We have booked two Qantas international business class FF seats (U class?).
Is there an online enquiry system available to show what seats we have been allocated. Can these seats be changed online or do I need to ring FF.
thanks

Welcome Blu,

I'm new here myself but you should try www.checkmytrip.com . Youwill need your booking reference.

Also, I htink if you log into qantas.com and check your flight booking in there you can also see your seat.

Hope you enjoy your trip. Where are you off to btw?

I wish you welcome Blu as well.

This should do the trick! When the display comes up look for little +'s with orange background. Click these and you may see a seat number beside "Seating" if a seat is allocated. If there is a seat number, click on that and a pop up window will appear; showing a seat map if available. If if "seating" only shows somethinh like "non smoking", call qantas and request seating.

Nup, Qantas will not let you see this using thier web site.

We are skiing in japan (Niseko & Hakuba) with visits to Tokyo & Kyoto also.
Will need to use JAL airpasses for domestic flights (however the baggage weight limit will cause us problems)

You'll love the skiing - some of the best in the world. If you have the time,
I'd recommend daytrips to Kamakura (was there yesterday) or Hakone (from Tokyo) and Nara (from Kyoto). Also Osaka at night is great fun!

You have a choice of JAL airpasses or ANA/ star alliance airpasses. You can upgrade to J-class on JAL for only 1,000yen each way, which represents tremendous value.

As ANA is a star alliance carrier, their domestic airpasses allow you to accrue elite mileage towards a *Alliance program. If you ugrade on ANA to a superseat, then you will accrue 1st class COS bonuses, and also have a larger baggage limit. You can do this at the airport for 5,000yen one-way, space permitting. Enjoy your trip!

BTW - I looked at Checkmytrip.com today and for the first time I was able to see the seating plan for Qantas. Is this a new thing or was the system down previously. It also shows which seats are taken and which are empty.

System must have been down - often it will show an error message saying the seating plan is not available. It's not available for domestic flights seating.

It's a wonderful website for checking out seating availability - hand-in-glove with Seat Guru which has an excellently compiled list of aircraft types (pity it's light-on for QF with only the 744 showing) and showig which are the best (or worst seats) and why.

There have been some issues with the checkmytrip seat plans lately, but they seem to have been rectified.

Be aware that the seat plan shows as "allocated" seats that have been blocked by the airline, but do not yet actually have an allocation. These could be exit rows, bassinet poitions or even those seats some airlines reserve for their elites. For example, Qantas permit only their Elite Status and QP members to preallocate the first few forward rows of economy. This will show on the map as fully allocated in those areas, but, may in fact, have very few seats taken.
