G'day,

Heading to Vietnam in a few weeks and wanted to ask about the insurance policy as a pillion passenger in a share ride. Apparently, if you use the "Grab App" taxis it might be a moped/bike etc. and they will just give you a helmet. Unsure if this is true but let's say it is for this thread.

My question is I have booked the tickets with ANZ Black Card so I have travel insurance included; does the insurance cover this kind of rides in Vietnam?

I am asking members who have been here and have used this kind of share rides over there and had insurances. Not looking for "read the policy" :) but hoping that some folks have been in similar situation.

Thank you.

To be more specific, you’d be looking for someone here who has ANZ credit card insurance and used a motorcycle ride share AND had an injury that needed to claim on insurance.

You cannot rely on anecdotal evidence… the policy is the determining document.

The ANZ CC policy states you are *not* covered for quad or motorcycle riding unless you (and only you) are driving (you cannot be a passenger), the engine capacity is under 200cc and - as the driver - you hold an aussie motorcycle licence or a motor cycle licence issued by the country in which you are driving.

Thank you so much.

I wonder if I could add that on to the current travel insurance.
