Video Trip Report: I surprised my wife with Emirates A380 First Class

Hello All

I took this trip back in summer and recorded it using iPhone 6. So please bear with the video quality and shaky footage. It is very sad that we have lost all EK A380 on Tasman route of out AKL.

Background:
Every year Mrs DD takes kids back to NZ for Xmas. I booked their return flight on EK Business using QF points. I happened to be in Melbourne on the day they return, and the plan was that I fly MEL-SYD and meet them at Sydney Airport before heading home.

In early December, when I was planning the trip, I found a trans-Tasman EK F deal on QF Code. The additional SC will push my status just over 1400 to qualify WP for the first time. This would also give us an opportunity to experience EK F. On top of that, I booked this itinerary secretly to give Mrs DD and kids a big surprise. So I couldn't resist and book the flights.

So in the end, I will be flying MEL-AKL-SYD instead of MEL-SYD. Of course, i will give up my seat to Mrs DD on the AKL-SYD leg.

Awwwww...that was nice of you. Everybody should fly Emirates F at least once in their lives! I am doing a similar flight with my 84yo Father in 2018. Unfortunately, he knows. But I will still enjoy seeing his face when he finds the door buttons and the bar!

Agree. I just booked for my son and his bride to travel F from Heathrow to Sydney for their honeymoon. It was an award flight and we topped up his points to manage it. She is beyond excited and will watch Sex and the City 2 where Emirates F cabin is featured although it’s referred to as a private plane.

Enjoyed the video too. Must say I laugh every time I see an EK F menu and their Qantas inspired offering is a chicken schnitzel or steak sandwich. Must have the EK chefs and management in stitches too.
