Nothing beats close to 5 hrs on tarmac in Y before deplaning :). Happy you got there painfree and safely. They should have brought some Comtes from first :)

Sickening Thud we landed about an hour ago. Not sure how long it takes to turn around but your Flounging may be almost at an end! BTW service was a disaster, no cutlery, side plates, took 2 hours to complete meal service in J. Think there was more wrong than the cargo door!

Thanks PrincessK, Just adding a footnote to this saga.
The return QF128 got away about 1.5hrs late and didn't make up any time.
The captain stated a couple of times that the damage and repair had occurred at LAX and that it was subsequently late into SYD, which doesn't quite gel with the earlier eye witness accounts from the lounge. I'm not reading anything into this though, probably just something got lost in translation.

Heard the meal service was so so. The 11K door is the catering door? Something fallout of the plane? Yikes!

I did wonder if it was the catering door, it was like they'd had to store everything in unusual places and they couldn't find anything. They were running around collecting plates/cutlery/food from F and Y. But they didnt offer the snack or drinks before landing either. Been about a year since I flew QF J internationally so I'm not sure if this is a standard thing now or to do with the general confusion on board.
