And we wonder why credit cards are pulling back on insurancesJust sharing my experience with short connection flights with Cathay when flying MEL-HKG on CX134, and then HKG-TPE on CX472, booked on the same ticket.
There is a transit time of 55 minutes. I've taken this route 3 times, and on the last 2 trips, my baggage has not made my HKG-TPE connection flight. The last encounter was about 4 weeks ago, where there was a very long taxi into HKG and then there was a plane still waiting to be pushed back at the gate.
The baggage is usually then delivered to me the next day by around lunch time. Luckily for me, my trip to Taiwan is usually to see relatives so I can live without it overnight, and it gives me the evening to go shopping.
On both times, I have successfully claimed baggage delay reimbursements through my amex of around $1.5k AUD each - so now whenever I need to buy new clothes or "essentials", this route comes to mind![]()
You used the system… but that’s not what it’s designed for. Less than 24 hour delay and you’re claiming $1500 per time?
