Booked a reward flight BNE-SYD for wife and daughter. Checked no for travel insurance and still wanted to charge for travel insurance. Went back and unchecked and checked no travel insurance and this time removed the insurance. Then chose the 7,800 points + $28.30 option but for some reason it still showed 12,200 points on screen as the total. Went ahead with booking and charged 12,200 points for booking.

Hindsight says I should have started again but it was late and wanted to get booking out of the way. Call this morning and soent 15 minutes on phone getting a new booking and out of the goodness of their hearts they waived all cancellation fees. Yeah right.

I'm still waiting for the day where a 94,000 point booking comes up with 0 points.

Apparently they think this is a good enough choice for people who wish to book some TSV-SIN return flights in the future, also note how nice of them to offer a way of going back and changing your travel dates. I know that this is a really complex task involving stopping at BNE and changing planes onto one of your own partner airlines...but still

I would be so p#%%*^ off if I were in VA management, or if I was responsible for managing their IT contractors.

Same issue if wanting to Book HBA-BKK for any dates, there is nothing showing at all but if using Skyscanner the flights are there but when clicking the link and being redirected to the Virgin site again the issue of no flights presents itself.
All was working fine a month or so ago.

Was looking at swapping to VA from QF and looks like I'll stick with QF for a while yet.

You see the problem is you're not logged in....... :D:rolleyes::mrgreen:

Booked a VA flight using Etihad Guest miles over the weekend (which meant calling Etihad - fair enough).

VA never used to let you add your frequent flyer number into external bookings online (travel agents, partner airlines etc), but now the system does allow this - was quite excited not to have to call up, and added my Velocity number in. :D

(Won't earn points, but my Gold status will help with lounge access etc.)

Just as I was thinking "wow, things are moving forward", I clicked 'select seats' or similar and got a pop-up saying that I could only do this by CALLING VIRGIN AUSTRALIA, so being able to enter my FF number online saved no time whatsoever because I still have to call to avoid being stuck in a middle seat if the flight is full.

Seriously?! It's 2017, and Virgin Australia seat selection doesn't even work properly on Virgin Australia's own website, even when loading up the booking using the Virgin Australia PNR.

So I called up. At first they insisted they couldn't help me at all because it was an Etihad booking. Asked if they would try again as I'd done this before. Magically, they were able to open the booking and assign me an aisle seat.

Yeah - I thought that might have been it but when logged in its the same result.

But look what happens when you search for BNE-SIN ! I would imagine this is why the previous poster was also having problems with originating in Hobart.

Sorry i was being ironic (one of the website's major issues is the constant re-logging in)!

What happens if you try multi-city or a tsv-bne redemption same dates?

I have tried doing a multi city booking myself but it will not allow a return and I tried it for TSV-BNE-SIN as a test and only allows DPS or HKG as flight 3.... exactly the same as HBE-MEL-BKK, no return from the destination city in flight 2 can be booked.

And yes I am logged in when trying ;):p

Wow, hopeless.

Tried to book another points + pay SYD-BNE for wife and daughter and even though I choose 7,800 points + $28.30 the website woukd like to deduct 12,200 points.

Stupid glitch. Had to waste time calling up to make the booking.

JohnK It always shows the total points on the front screen when selecting the flight. Usually the taxes are grey ( 4400 ) and the flight is red ( 7800 ) but shows the total 12200.or 11200 or whatever

When you get to the payment screen you use the slider to reduce it back to 7800

see attached

This might save you the phone call

That's what I have done with the slider on both occasions so even though 7,800 points + $28.30 is showing the screen underneath confirms the number of points is 12,200 points as does the total payment on the right below the passengers and flights selected.

Thought I did something wrong last week but exactly the same thing happened last night so this time didn't go ahead with booking.

There is clearly an issue if I am choosing points + pay at the payment page and this selection is being ignored.

That's interesting JohnK. What browser are you using? I just did a tester and I'm using Chrome, and it seems to be working. Perhaps start a session in Incognito/Private mode or clear your browser cache/history to see if that makes a difference...? It may seem that it's an issue in your particular instance rather than a broader fault (though really, I'd suggest the broader fault is that their website doesn't handle things very well when things become messy in the local-instance background.)

That's how it should look. Using Firefox.

I feel you JohnK. I did a booking MOV-SYD and BNE-MKY the other week for family members and it wouldn't let me pay anything with a CC so it had to be points only, despite trying multiple times, logging out between etc. It had added a hotel booking that hadn't been asked for of $0 that had to be "paid" for if using a CC and wouldn't let me pay the flight taxes with CC and not the hotel. Frustrating.

First VA booking this year - apparently, if I try to assuage my guilty environmental conscience by purchasing a Carbon Offset when I book, I've selected "Travel Extras" which means I can't change my seat without ringing up.

And I thought QF's website was terrible - VA, you're utterly useless!

I get that as well if i book a free exit row as a plat.... it considers that as a travel extra, with a $0 charge. Try to change the seat later and you're out of luck.
#$%^ing stoopid beyond belief.

Credit where credit is due.

Did online check-in, my FF # wasn't added for some reason. When l entered the lounge, lounge lady put my FF number in and my online boarding pass updated automatically.

I guess it's just a little positive....

First box is Mr/Mrs/Ms, second is first name, third is surname, fourth box is your date of birth (xx/xx/xx) and the smart thing calculates your age, ....

Stupid thing does not tell you what you are supposed to enter in each box!
