Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

I experienced the same fail. I think it's them not you.....

Thanks for the data point. I wonder what's harder. Getting aeroplanes to stay in the sky, or running a website.
I'm glad they can at least do one of the two.

Feel like I am in a loop. Checking availability SIN-KIX-SIN, and it shows me the Flight Calendar. Thusly:

But when I click on the desired date combo and select Continue, it just comes back to this calendar.
What the hell am I doing?

You're doing nothing wrong - it's their poor IT who aren't connecting the dots (or pages in this case). It shouldn't be hard but they are making it easier to seek doing bookings elsewhere.

Almost certainly going to transfer my modest allocation of points from VFF to KF anyway. Would prefer to avoid paying SQ's taxes and infant fees. But bloody hell VA makes it hard.
It's only going to take one trip for me to burn through these points anyway. Going to switch to One World when I start planning my LSL journeys.

As a suggestion, try opening an "Incognito" browser (or whatever your particular browser model calls it). Sometimes cookies and ghost records get things tangled, but starting a fresh, disconnected session helps overcome these issues. YMMV

Just booked a reward j class fare ADL-MUSCAT in February next year , checked online and showed no availability at all ,decided to ring up and the lady check and found plenty of seats via MEL SYD BNE . So defiantly pays to ring up no matter what the velocity website says . Also booked 2 j class fares AUH-JNB , JNB-ADL which couldn't be done online . I wished they would make it easier to book rewards seats online without having to ring up .

Definitely some massive issues going on with their Etihad connection atm. Seats for the last week have largely disappeared for most destinations in Europe. When you ring however there does appear to be some availability though. The other problem though is that availability has massively reduced all of a sudden. Throughout March there was usually 5 reward seats on each flight to Europe. Now there is literally 2. I've been tracking them for a while waiting for the 22nd of April to open. 4 of us going on a trip (2 couples) and we were both going to use points on Etihad to fly J to Europe. Now I think we are going to have to go on separate days as there is literally only 2 reward seats on any of the Etihad connecting flights into Europe from Abu Dhabi. Really hoping their system and availability improves in the next week...

Trying to book partner redemptions online was almost impossible this afternoon.

I could not get it to work...2 places to log in, originally got a calendar view with availability then could not get availability, then had to log in again..

So one of my flights from last Tuesday (SYD-BNE) has posted along with my direct (TSV-SYD) flight back on Thursday. Somehow my BNE-TSV flight hasn't turned up though!

It still hasn't shown up as of today (10 days) so I thought I'd try and submit a missing points claim. Did all that and got this message:

Our records indicate that this ticket was not used. Members can only earn Points after travel has been completed. [LTY-0081]

What the??? Did I walk to TSV for my flight back on 12 May? What now?

Gee it would be easy to get feedback on the real world issues for their IS department (though I don't think they care as a number of these issues have existed for a number of years), just send a link to this thread!

The number of times having to login with Velocity is ridiculous.

Yes I used their feedback form to make my second claim and noticed the capacity to complain about the websites. I don't think there's enough space to put all the complaints though. Some have been there so long I've become used to them and just use work-arounds like everyone else around here.

I can;t see how anyone really sees value in a DOM TA.

The client I had in CNS used a TA and I needed to change the return flight. Normally, I'd just log onto VA and change it, but it wouldn't allow me to do it, so I rang VA who also couldn't do it and advised me to contact the TA. This was a Friday afternoon and TA phone said the office had closed for the day (circa 1pm), so rang their after hours number who told me it was not after hours and to ring the TA. Told them the TA had closed for the afternoon and he said that was rubbish and he'd put me thorugh......then wanted to know which branch I booked through.....I told him I didn't book it so I had no idea and he put me through to the most likely branch, which did answer the phone. The guy was helpful but from that point it still took about 20min to alter and I was charged for the service . Had I booked myself, it would have been changed in minutes.......but with a TA, it was over 1/2 an hour....and I think I was lucky that it happened at all.

I don't value a domestic TA, but all my company travel must go through our nominated TA to get access to our private negotiated airfares, and the TA's extremely frustrating processes.

If you call out of hours, there is an instant fee (about $50). Given a lot of my travel is subject to last minute business requirements, I regularly make and change bookings out of hours. It costs the company a fortune, but they don't care - I am complying with policy.

If you go to QF.com or VA.com then you get your backside royally kicked as one of my colleagues found out.

Yes, I understand the constraints on the traveller, but I was really referring to why a company see value in it. I guess I don't know what kind of discounts a negotiated airfare might realise and my post should have referenced DRW, not CNS but the client that used the TA would be on one of the best negotiated deals (or so I'd thought) and I did get to see the invoice.......same as I could get! It just amazes me that big companies are so blind (unless there are substantial rebates in play)!

There are a lot of really stupid people in our company, so by forcing them to use the travel agent the company can drive some aspects of policy compliance.

Our negotiated fares are quite good on the red roo, but fairly "standard" on VA. I suspect both may have volume rebates, but I'm not across that.

Well, one belonging to an airline that was recently voted as having the best reward redemption availability in the region.

I suppose when you think about VA awards that are readily redeemable online, that is somewhat true, and perhaps less so with some partners...

Yes to a degree.

However from the customer perspective if you are offering the option to have online partner redemptions, then as least make it functional and possible.

Availability ( or lack of ) is 1 thing, but not being able to even view if a particular route is available is another.

I just had the same issue when attempting to respond to an email from Velocity asking me to set a PIN. All I can do is chuckle to myself. First interaction with Virgin and their coughpy website in a couple of months - at their own behest in this case - and it falls over at the log in stage. I'm off to book some flights on the Roo....

Just recently I logged into my account and went through the MyBookings section to view a particular booking and clicked on the UpgradeMe link to where I was asked to log into my account to complete! How the hang was I able to get to the UpgradeMe link in a particular booking if I wasn't logged in?? (there was no undue time to cause a log out).

received email to add PIN, cant even log into account thru the link, or my normal bookmark, or their mobile app.
