Hi there, Long time stalker, first time poster!

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I just can't seem to find it, and I haven't found the Velocity website to be particularly informative for my specific query.

I have over 100,000 Velocity points, which I'd like to use to redeem flights on a few of the more expensive legs of an upcoming US trip.

Can I use Velocity points to redeem flights on Virgin America, and if so, how the hell do I do this?

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes you can redeem on all cabin types on Virgin America, but you need to call for bookings/ availability.... However if you are only seeing expensive fare types available... chances of a reward seat may be slim.

You could always book DL flights online, and they do offer some good status benefits if you have VA status

These sectors need to be booked as VX prime flight, you cannot book these seats as the VA codeshare unless you are on a VA flight to/from the USA.

As for does not exist .... I am travelling 22May LAX DAL on a VX flight on a reward seat booked last week over the phone ... so there are seats around..

That's interesting. Having made in excess of 20 calls on this matter, I've been told by numerous reps that there are no award seats on ANY VX flight, a year out in any class! Every time I called I'd ask them to search for a VX leg alone, no luck whatsoever.

They insisted that only DL is available and the flight I had booked under the VA code as part of a larger trip was due to an anomaly with their systems.

It's not that I don't believe you, just find it interesting how things are so random with VA.

Hi

This is not true. I managed to book 2 first class VX tickets via award redemption through the helpdesk. It took several attempts before tickets were confirmed. From LAX-MCO total mileage deducted was 67600 plus taxes under $40 AUD or thereabouts. Seats were ticketed in March this year 2015. They tried to push the DL path as well for me.

Keep trying & good luck.

Ted

LAX-JFK and LAX-BOS, I told them find me a seat on any date. All agents would search and get nothing but DL. Only one agent, the very first one I spoke with said: I can get you LAX-SFO (as if that's a compromise). But when I asked her to give me a flight number/date, she came back and said, none available.

Transfer to Krisfler and book *A 25,000 points in J on any internal US flights. Happy to search some *A for your dates if you want.

Thanks for the tip, finding seats on *A isn't an issue for me. I'm actually going to book Mint on JetBlue, can't go wrong with 599USD to JFK in proper J seat as opposed to VX.

I've had the opposite experience. I've redeemed SYD-LA-JFK in July with VA and LA-JFK leg could only find availability in VX not DL on any date which was interesting considering I booked so far in advance in October 2014. How far out have you guys been redeeming? Perhaps I didn't need to book so far in advance.
