There is a 2 step operation for this.
First, you need to know how many flight miles you will be flying, with VA or its partners.
Short sector, Au domestic, is 5 points per $1 spent.
Then, second, you multiple the miles by %.
Further out, ie, Au - NZ or to the US, its miles x % depending on class of travel.
Its not as easy to calculate as the QF one.
