Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

From the recent update:
We are working closely with Singapore Airlines to plan for the reintroduction of Reward Seats and the ability for members to transfer Points between the Velocity and KrisFlyer programs. Please review this page for the latest updates.

What that transfer rate ends up being will be most interesting.

Bound to be complaints either way, if it does return.

Especially if it's 'improved/reverted' back to the original Borghetti/SQ ownership-era rate or it maintains the Scurrah-era devalued transfer rate but with a Bain-mandated fee applied by VFF in the Velocity-Krisflyer direction to recover the costs (if not make money) of operating the program.

Edit: Other suggestions as posted by others on AFF is capping the Velocity-Krisflyer 'transfers' every 3-6 months or so thus to stem the losses and to make it more 'sustainable'.

I managed to get 2 x Syd to HNL return in business, called 8 am on the 2nd of November, flights are late April and March, and was checking American Airlines redemption to see rewards seats

312K in points and 316 in taxes

Hi all, a couple of questions I'm hoping you can help with

1. Tried to book BNE-ATH with Virgin (Etihad), found flight, but am being charged points (144,500) + taxes (25,500) + taxes $~1250. Its the taxes in points and dollars I'm questioning... does this seem right?
2. I can't even search BNE/SYD/MElb to HNL on VA website, is this only available from call centre?

Thanks!

yes the carrier charges Etihad sound right, because you have to pay Carrier charges for each leg!

these fees may also have gone up, I went Sydney to London first class Etihad redemptions and the carrier fees were around 1300 2 years ago

As with Hawaiian airlines, this has to be done on the phone, not offered on the website, use the American airlines redemption site to see if there are reward seats

also BNE to HNL is 65000 points vs SYD to HNL 78000 points approx 80 carrier charges

Thanks Jasecao. I knew about the carrier charges, I just though ti would be one or the other, not the $ plus another 25k in points.
Thanks for your tips for HNL!

It looks like SQ has started to release some Y award seats to Star Alliance partner airlines today, e.g. on the JFK-FRA route.

I also noticed that there are some changes being worked on with the Virgin Australia website this afternoon. E.g. an hour ago it was possible to search for award seats from JFK-FRA, but now you can't any more.

Hopefully this is a sign of something imminent happening with SQ.

I noticed some SQ Y seats on Aeroplan when I was searching Tuesday night. Hopefully better things are on their way
