Velocity Honors Status Match

Ive signed up to get my velocity status (Gold) matched by HHonors, does anyone know how long it usually takes? The email says up to 20 working days, but is it usually much quicker than that?

Reason being I have a string of hotel bookings in the US that start 17 business days after I applied.

I tried to short cut the process by contacting HHonors on twitter but they said they have to wait from virgin. They did however give me a challenge of 4 stays in 90 days to keep Gold until 2020. I have 5 stays booked. I guess if nothing else I’ll come back with Gold status anyway.

Anything I can do to make it go quicker?

It will probably never happen unless you call Velocity.....maybe a few times.

And waited. And waited.

Contacted Velocity, who said contact Hilton. Contacted Hilton, who said contacted Velocity. Contacted Velocity, not their problem.

Made a thread, "Why is it so hard" and got a Velocity rep contact (who's not around anymore) and it was done overnight.

Took about 9 weeks WITH online VA rep assistance.

Im going to trigger my WP Diamond early next year, Im expecting the same issues.
 
Yikes. After reading that thread, clearly I’m dreaming to get the match in 17 working days.

Maybe I’ll just tell Hilton I’ll cancel all my bookings (over $5K) if I don’t get matched before. All booked direct and with free cancellation.
 
Email the Facebook Hilton page with a screen shot of your velocity overview, the trigger confirmation email and provide your Hilton honours number.

They are very helpful :)

I tried that with the twitter team and they couldn’t help. I assume they’re the same people.

I've had similar experience to this but without the rep.

After going through this process 3 times and having similar issues each time, I can confirm Virgin have to contact Hilton to make it happen.
My understanding of what happens:
- When you trigger the request, some Virgin system emails or talks to Hilton one way or another. Judging by the failure rate i'd bet it is an email.
- Hilton receive the email and process your request

I am sure lots of us know the shortcomings of emails, system issues can make them not be sent, not received or lost to spam or in an inbox.

So when you contact Virgin they see it has been triggered and say yes we sent the request it's up to Hilton. Which it IS, however its Virgin's job to push on Hilton. Frontline Hilton staff don't handle these requests.

Virgin will not do anything until the time stated in the email has elapsed. As soon as that day has past, ring Virgin and push for them to do something and if they won't, ring back. If you still don't get anywhere send an email to Platinum / Gold email and wait.

i am in the same boat, applied last week, travelling next week.

For the status match with Europcar, i waited two weeks, rang Velocity, got transferred around, ended up with Europcar Privelege Dept AU, and they said "no notificaiton was ever received from Velocity, send us an email and we will do it" which they did in less than 1 working day. The didnt even need proof of my gold, because they said that they can check that.

From that basis, I can only assume that he "up to 20 working days " means how long before the paper pusher at Velocity passes the informattion on. rather than how long the partner takes.

I got an email from Hertz today (applied at the same time) - so here’s hoping that means an email has already gone to Hilton. I assume it’s the same process / person.

I also just submitted an online complaint regarding their failure to pass on the request to Europcar, and asked them to give me certainty that they dont fail with Hilton either. Hopefully that will illicit a response. I will update here with my outcome

Applied 22 Aug. My first stay is 17 Sep. I have 5 stays in five cities over a 3 week period.

After my Hertz 5* was approved a week ago, I assumed Virgin must have sent the email - so I sent a message on twitter asking for them to check it on their end - or else I’d be forced two cancel my US$5K worth of accomodation starting next week.

Needless to say Gold status instantly granted!

i havent even got a response from velocity yet, its been a week since I set them a complaint. Instead I filled out a status match request on Hiltons website and the gave me 90 days gold the next day. thats all i need, for now.

Hilton Gold. Hertz 5* was granted without intervention.
 
I applied for Hilton Gold the day after you, and as I got no response to this nor my complaint, I just contacted Hilton and asked them to status match me and the did, for 90 days, which is what I needed. Im flying out tomorrow.

(there is an online form for Hilton Status match)
 
I'm a VA Platinum and requested on the Virgin website on the 28th of August to be matched to Hilton Diamond.

A couple of days ago I finally got a response back from Hilton with Gold status until 31 March 2020.

Obviously, it's annoying that it's not right and it's even more annoying it took almost 2 months to respond and get the email from Hilton.
 
i did this for Hilton when i hit gold 3 years ago, I remember constantly chasing velocity, took 2 emails and about a month for it to appear, I see things haven't changed one bit!

I have been waiting for longer than 2 months! you were lucky!

I beleive that Velocity takes their time passing on the requests, and Hilton does them quickly.
That was my experiencce wth the Europcar status match, who I had to ring, and they told me VFF never sent the request through (some two weeks had passed).

I applied for my HHonors status in April... only got an email confirming it last week.
