Hilton Diamond and VA - Why is it so hard?

Hoping to escalate this.

Phoned VA line, twice. Phoned Hilton, twice.

And today I get an email from Hilton stating, "Upon further review of your inquiry, per our liaison, you will need to contact Virgin Australia for assistance in regards to your upgrade for Diamond Status ". Note that I have already contacted VA, twice, and both times they said not our problem, contact Hilton.

Whats the point of offering member benefits if your own staff cant (wont) assist and the partner denies a partner agreement/benefit even exists?

So please advise what is my next option in getting a Platinum benefit when the provider (Hilton) and Virgin say they cant help me?

How long has it been since you opted in?

I know that for me ( and many members here) I was not informed about my new status with HHonors, it just appeared on my account online.

Perhaps give HHonors another cll and ask to speak to the shift supervisor, and highlight the promotion... I know that some phone operators have done the match over the phone.

Opted in Nov 14th so thats 8 weeks so far and no status change to our current HH account. Ive read on a couple of threads that when others have opted in, they received a new HH account # but we haven't received anything from Hilton either.

I don't mind waiting a couple of months for action, especially over Christmas, but its when VA offers zero support and then Hilton denies the benefit exists, I get slightly peeved.

Very understandable, I'd be peeved too.

I seem to remember my change took about a month... Other than what I suggested above not sure what I can recommend, but good luck! :(
 
8 weeks is too long. Even the terms say 30 days expected.

Call VA Platinum again and explain the situation carefully, emphasising that this is going back and forth without any progress whatsoever. I would like to think that with a better help desk (being Platinum and what not), they should be more empowered or more capable in handling your problem.

If the AFF rep is still around, sending them a PM could also work wonders.
 
I have had a private message from AFF VA Rep, asking for info to follow up.

Considering this same issue seems to be constant - I would like to hope there is an answer for those of us having the same issue.

Will update if (when) I get a response.

Velocity Rep PMd me that status has now been updated to Diamond and after checking the Hilton stie (twice, because I didn't see it the first time), status is now Diamond.

Many thanks to Velocity Rep - very much appreciated and I hope others have a speedy resolution to their Hilton issues as well.

Well...... Whats very interesting is the paper card I downloaded/printed from the Hilton site has expiry as 03/2017, so it will be interesting to see what happens because the VA WP benefit is for 6mth Diamond unless I have 4 stays within those 6mths.

Using my new Diamond status, I also was able to book our US hotels, which also included breakfast daily, bottle of water daily, free wifi in room and bonus points, which I can transfer to VA if I want to, and fingers cross, room upgrade on check in/if room available.

Now to go nag my boss to activate his status.

Edit: Oh. and I also got an email form HHonors overnight, apologising for the issue.

The delay has worked for you here. I opted in Dec 2 and only got Diamond status to 03/16 as it was processed before Jan 1.

My card arrived in the mail today with same status date as website so you should be right to 03/17.

It took about two months when I qual'd Gold about this time last year so was hoping they might have improved their processing time.

Well, not an email in sight, but I have success. Signed in today and there it was – a Diamond.

24 hours before a stay so I'm happy.

Would be nice to get a response from someone – VFF, VA, Hilton... anyone really.
 
I am 60 days since my application for Hilton Gold, so wasted as i wanted it for a trip to USA the last two weeks , I had booked 5 visits to hiltons in anticipation it wouldn't take so long. After multiple emails and phone calls to velocity and hilton , I go zero help, both blamed the other. Bit annoying.

There's a lot of that – blaming the other, and no one doing anything to help. Surely, if you were on VA's Gold/Plat desk you'd say: "I'm so sorry to hear that, let me take your number and I'll call the HHonors team to follow up for you".

Its more than annoying because its an promoted "benefit". I only got action because VFF contacted me via PM and followed up. I suggest you PM him/her directly.
