I've looked over the Velocity and Singapore websites regarding what privileges are afforded to Velocity Gold members flying SQ. I've seen all the standard ones: priority boarding, priority checkin, increased baggage, lounge access etc. One thing I have been looking for and can't find is priority seat allocation. My Velocity number won't attach to the booking and SQ have said to do it at the airport on the day. Trouble is, almost all seats are taken when I view on SQ site. Don't really want a middle seat. I figure if they give you all the perks, then what about seating.
Finally, after speaking to SQ, they assure me that my Velocity Gold card will gain me access to both the KrisFlyer Lounge and the KrisFlyer Gold lounge in Singapore airport. I have heard in the past, it's only been the showerless and toiletless Gold lounge. Anybody flown recently know anything further?

No experience with seat selection and Velocity status. I've only tried "seat selection" with SQ when I was a Star Alliance Gold, and it wasn't really anything: I had BNE-SIN-NRT return. BNE-SIN and SIN-BNE were lightly loaded, so managed to get an aisle seat on both (upfront and exit row costs extra). Ditto that for SIN-NRT and NRT-SIN (on A380s). I took my allocated aisle seat on BNE-SIN (plenty of space - whole row for me in the centre), but at the SIN T3 service counter I managed to get exit row upper deck A380 for SIN-NRT, free of charge. On the way back, I also requested exit rows at the check-in desks at NRT and was given them for both flights, again free of charge.

It's worth trying, but if your flight is looking full, your chances may just be slim, full stop.

FWIW according to the VFF benefits summary, the only international partner which VFF allows Advanced Seat Selection is Air New Zealand (on Tasman services). I guess the rest is discretionary. (At least, with SQ this is consistent with the treatment of Star Alliance Gold, i.e. at least we get lounge access on SQ tickets but advanced seat selection - nup, cross-alliance status means nothing).

I think the SQ staff are a bit confused.

At SIN T3, there are two kinds of SQ lounges: one is called the SilverKris Lounge and the other the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

To access the SilverKris Lounge, you must have a boarding pass in Business or First Class flying SQ. Simply SQ KrisFlyer Gold, Star Alliance Gold or Velocity Gold / Platinum is not enough.

If you have a SQ Economy boarding pass, your Velocity Gold enables you to access the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge. I don't think much has changed since I last was there in 2011, which means that there are no toilets or showers in the KrisFlyer Gold lounge (nearest conveniences are around the corner from the entry to the lounge).

SIN T2 has a pair of the same kinds of lounges, with identical access rules.

Note that outside of SIN, SQ operated lounges are called SilverKris lounges. For these SilverKris lounges outside of SIN, your Velocity Gold will give you access as long as you're flying SQ in any class.

I apologise, you are correct. The lounge is the SilverKris Lounge. Still, the lady at SQ here in Brisbane said access would be gained at either. I will try my luck. I just hope the Gold lounge is ok as I've got 5 hours layover between flights.

I have a connection in SIN next week to Singapore Airlines - will try my luck and see if the lounge dragons know the new rules :)

Was in the Krisflyer Gold lounge last week. Definitley no showers and the toilets are in the hallway connecting the Gold & Silver Lounges, so they are effectively outside the lounge area.
