VA Y+ SYD-LAX at $2855 for early December - is it really "on sale"?

I note that VA has a sale til 29 Feb for USA PE and BUS tickets. But my question is - is it really "on sale"?

eg SYD-LAX late November/ early December in PE can be had for $2855 or thereabouts - but isn't that about their price? If not, what is their normal price to be expected around that period?

I suspect note, prices ramp re Christmas, its not unusual to see Y to SIN for that!
