After reading this post, I've done some research and found that the Virgin Australia/Virgin Atlantic round-the-world sale seems to be back from $1,414 in economy, including taxes. This is departing from Sydney or Melbourne - there is a small surcharge if leaving from other Australian cities.
The basic itinerary is fixed with stops in HKG, LHR and LAX. You'd fly from Australia to Hong Kong on VA, then Hong Kong to London on VS. The return is via Los Angeles, flying VS LHR-HKG and then VA from LAX to Australia. Travel in the other direction is also possible.
For all intents and purposes, it's just a return flight from Australia to London, going via HKG outbound and returning via LAX. By adding free stopovers in HKG and LAX, you can make it a RTW trip. Still, it's a pretty good deal.
