VA status challenge - smart marketing

I just wish VA2 would do something to make Platinum more worthwhile compared to Gold.

For me personally, the upgrades to J are now more hassle than worth and the rest is just crumbs, I don’t personally care about economy X seating for all the short hops I do enough to bother.
I agree with this. I mostly fly for leisure and got to Plat that way, so the J upgrades are of little use to me. When the Flex fare is only $50 cheaper than booking the J fare outright, without the hassle of calling for the upgrade, it feels like a false 'benefit' to me when I would just pay for the J fare outright to save the hassle and uncertainty.

I heard that during COVID (before I was WP) that they were allowing the upgrades on Choice fares. I would prefer to see that reinstated. That would feel more like a true loyalty benefit. The current setup only benefits people who presumably have their workplaces pay their Flex fares for them.
 
As stated previously, the Flex upgrade for WP is very valuable if your flying east coast to either Darwin or Perth, there's considerable savings on these routes. Triangle it's all blah blah as you say.

Hardly a hassle to call up & get the upgrade.

Any route where they're not price matching Rex on Business tends to be the best places to use them.
 
Has anyone actually received the upgrade to platinum from this promo. I received the offer and flew my 200 status credit last week and haven‘t heard anything.

Have you tried calling Velocity to see what's going on? I'd be interested in what they have to say.
 
I haven’t had the chance. I don’t mind pushing the review date out until I get closer to another trip! My travel is self funded now so I want to maximise the time.

I’ll let you know when I do call them.
 
Flew the qualifying flights in mid August: nothing has changed for my status. I’m happy to wait until November at the end of the qualifying period for them to process the change in status. Had SQ flights this month anyway.

All the flights were on VA operated flights and on VA tickets.

Anyone else in a similar position?
 
I had email from Blood Life Australia y'day congratulating me for 5 blood donations, I'm little closer to 200, then error apologies email hours later.

What goes on with IT in these and many more companies? How does this misinformation get sent out.

Anyone in IT here she'd some light?

Had the same: 0 out of 200.
I emailed the gold team and pointed out that over 200 SCs worth had been credited to my Velocity account (gave them the dates to check) and that there appeared to be an error in their ‘update’ email… got a personally written response a few hours later noting the issue and that they’ll check and get back to me.

As for what the actual IT issue is, who knows. Maybe the system was expecting a ‘Click here to register’ type response even though T&Cs for this status challenge didn’t require it, therefore it never correctly data matched those on some sort of status challenge list and those whose accounts had been credited. I’m sure the staff will manually sort it out shortly.

I got one today. VA WP here, was offered 100sc bonus when I fly at least 60sc worth on business flyer ...
 
Glad to hear it wasn't just me that has the issue.

I took screenshots from my velocity account showing the activity and I also attached copies of my e-tickets for the flights involved.

From my phone inquiry, nothing is likely to change until after November 9 and will be resolved by November 30

Velocity has just resent the email I received yesterday apologizing for the error and now showing the correct number of status credits I've accrued.
 
This is what VA have now sent through. A couple of days to correct whatever the error was. Good work Velocity. 👍

Hopefully the status change comes through in late Nov as I have no planned VA or partner flights between now and then.
 
Anyone had their upgrade from this offer yet? Looks like it closed yesterday. I’ve done the 200 SC in the window and have a flight in Monday morning…desperate for those sweet, sweet extra legroom seats!
