Hi All,

I'm about to book some flight with VA SYD-LAX and considering using points to upgrade to PE (don't have enough for J!). Haven't flown PE with VA so hoping to hear of others' experiences in PE. Only looking to fly VA - need the SC's to retain Platinum!

Thanks!

Steer clear of row 10 unless you are 5' or less tall.

There a good thread in this - I'll dig it up ..

My goodness - the good ole Row 10 debate again :)

I love row 10 (but I'm short). Row 10 is still good at 5'6". 5' is a bit short Serfty (IMO)!

We do BNE - LAX on VA around 4~5 time a year for the last two and half years - roughly 50/50 J or PE ...... we have never had a problem in VA PE ...... VA1 and VA2 seem to have good reliability as BNE or MEL flight tend to get the rough end of the pineapple if things go south to keep VA1/2 ticking over nicely.

Not sure on VA PE SYD-LAX-SYD loads but they vary greatly from sold out to very light out of and to BNE. When things do go pear shape VA8 pax with status often get moved to VA2 and then that often fills J and PE.

I'm Plat, wife Gold, and we always get usual recognition both jointly and when flying separately ......

Row 10 is a little limited but drawing the line at 5 foot may be a tad extreme - plus it can suffer from wash room - self serve bar traffic at times.

I have never checked - what is the damage to upgrade to PE with points? ........ As has been posted elsewhere it is normally always cheaper to buy discounted VA PE (status credit value holds) compared to flexible Y if that is an option.

Thanks everyone! I'll certainly look at the PE option. If I'd have got on to it earlier I probably could have snared cheaper flexi tickets and used the points for a J upgrade, but as usual I've left it until the last minute....

Cheers

How many points do you have?

I have done row 12 in PE and next flights were Y in first Y row, I think 20, and row 26 exit row but bulkhead seats, both of which I would rather than PE.
