Hi just wondering if it still the case if
1. flying SIA
2. is VA gold
3. Can access lounge brisbane silverkris lounge + 1 guest (child is counted as a guest? e.g. i cant take 2 kids in under age 11. )
Thanks!

Yes you can use the SQ lounge with 1 guest. I believe they are generally strict on the number of guests regardless of age.

Thanks very much. might need to get the other half up to gold then! if only kids dont count on entry i wouldnt have to worry about anything ;D

We'll be departing BNE on a Sunday night on SQ in 4 weeks.

I'm VA Gold travelling with wife and 7 year old daughter. We've had good run with lounge entry with 6 year old daughter and she's turning 7 years old in 3 weeks.

If we're not allowed an additional guest then wife gives me her blessing to take daughter into lounge for something to eat and then back out into terminal. Would be nice for all 3 to be in lounge but not the end of the world.

I should be VA Platinum in January 2024. I'm not sure if that gives us an extra guest into lounge.

Good luck! I am in similar predicament and in my search i cant see anything stating extra guest as plat.

So i will have to pool my SC to my wife so we are both golds by the time we travel so both kids can enter the lounge instead of me hitting platinum again.

It's very clear on the Velocity site...both re number of guests and the status of children guests.

VA platinum gets extra guests only in VA lounges (+3 instead of the +1 for Gold)

It doesn't. Not for partner lounges anyway. And IME they've been very strict about guest numbers so you've been lucky thus far.
Yes we've been lucky but this where having an understanding wife matters.

We rock up to the lounge with the expectation that I'm going in with daughter and wife will wait for us. If wife gets in that's a bonus.

I have two daughter and a wife so there's always a decision to be made. Recently I did this though in the US where, even though our travels had been severely inconvenienced by a flight cancellation the lounge dragons still insisted on sticking to the one guest policy thus separating our family:
  • I entered the lounge with kid 1, wife and kid 2 finds a seat in the terminal.
  • After kid 1 has some food etc, I take kid 1 to wife and bring kid 2 into lounge.
  • After kid 2 has some food etc, I take kid 2 to kid 1 and, ensuring kids are fine, then
  • bring wife into lounge
The lounge dragon actually yelled at me that I couldn't rotate guests. I just said that I was only following the rules of entering the lounge with one guest. She couldn't point out the bit where I could only enter once or that the guest had to be the same guest.

I wouldn't bother with this palava for a coughpy lounge like UA DCA or BOS but the lounge at LGA was pretty good.

LOL. You did the right thing. I'd do the same if I had more than 1 child.

For us it's not really a decision as wife has already decided and who am I to go against wife's decisions?

I said to wife if we cannot get all 3 into lounge we just find a spot in terminal and wait. She said no. She would rather have daughter go into lounge and have some food as daughter usually sleeps on the flight. Plus I could easily take sandwich and soft drink for wife when we leave lounge.

By the way I'd be happy to let wife/daughter go into lounge and I can wait in terminal but that's not possible. So far so good.
