I just got that as well, I assume for my flight this Friday. I note they say since the fare I purchased included a snack, please ask the cabin crew if you would still like this. I will likely do so and also hope they have some wine for purchase that doesn't taste like vinegar.

Re snacks for VA economy class pax on pre purchased purchased tickets but flying post 25 March 2021.

I understand that, in future post 25 March 2021, only water tea and coffee would be available free to economy class . All food/ snacks/juice etc are charged for.

Fair enough, but my ticket purchased earlier this month included snacks /meals (as appropriate).

I received an email today that kind of clarified the situation.

But does anyone know what it means?

What does “staff will be able to assist” mean?

Will I be provided with the equivalent of the past snack and juice without charge ( my first sector is BNE to Proserpine at a lunchtime ) or will I get a discount off food/juice that will be sold on the flight??

Important information about your upcoming flight

Please be advised that as of 25 March 2021 we have updated our food and drink offering on all flights.

As a result, guests will continue to receive complimentary water, with tea and coffee also provided. However, complimentary food will no longer be provided in our economy class cabin.

We understand you have purchased a fare inclusive of a complimentary snack. If you would still like to receive a snack, please make yourself known to cabin crew once on board and they will be able to assist.

We look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Kind regards,
Virgin Australia

I also just got that email. I'm assuming it relates to some flights that I have cancelled, but Virgin hasn't yet processed the credit for. That booking had some Economy legs. My only remaining booking is a J flight in mid-April, so I'm hoping it doesn't relate to that! I'm looking forward to a revamped J class offering for that flight.

I got the email too and was popping in here to find out. As pax who have already paid for food they should be providing it without us having to ask.
simple enough to flag as if it’s a special meal request and offer it.

Virgin STRATEGY???

Simple - just more totally hollow and lacking in any detail American Barnum and Bailey hype, from Ms Hardlicka, inline with her last half dozen equally hollow PR emissions.

No WiFi for 6 months is inexcusable. And still no date WHEN it is expected. It is a simple thing - you pay the vendor money, and it works. Planes are all set up for it - it just needs to be turned on.

''EXPANDING VFF'' is vital to survive ... what planet is she living on???

Being on wait for over an hour on the phone last week on THREE separate times after inputting a Platinum VFF number is 4th World.

Was checking the same thing...talk about ambiguous language!
I’ll put it in plain English if you like....

We sold you a product, and you chose to pay extra to receive certain inclusions. We’ve decided not to give you those inclusions now.
If you want what you actually paid for, you’ll need to draw attention to yourself. Our staff will roll their eyes and see what they can find before offering to sell you something from the on board menu.....

I think that’s what it said 😉

Who cares the snack is/was nothing of substance anyway.

Give me a BOB menu down the back anyway.
If you're a frequent flyer means you would have lounge access so (at least currently) you can grab items from the lounge and take on board.

Said it before, and I'll say it again when branding to Virgin Australia it was a little while until they offered catering on board so it wasn't always the norm.

The one thing they have over Rex which is probably the most key ... All economy fares allow free seat selection which is possibly what more people want over a (poor) snack offering.

For some fights I’ll go Virgin especially if evening flight and longer purely for Economy X and BOB I find it more enjoyable compared to the QF 737 experience.

I like the wide variety of food/snacks/meals on Virgin and even Jetstar.

They will probably have a stash of some long life snack in the galleys for those who want it. It will be something very token.

Maybe they'll try to use up some of the left over snacks from the current business snack boxes...

Maybe there will be a special code on your BP to indicate you're owed a snack?

It's what they do a JetStar and we all know where Jayne came from. :)
Whilst I understand your reference the removal of economy snacks was announced prior to exiting voluntary administration so the decision was made prior to Jayne becoming CEO and PS must have been happy enough to go along with the decision.

You're entitled to your opinion, but why you have to purposefully write her name incorrectly baffles me.

As for the no snack new dawn - should've happened years ago. They were not worth the trouble or expense.
