Hey all,

Sorry, tried to search but couldn't find what I was after.

Currently booked to arrive on SQ F/Suites in SYD

Need to get to MEL after that, and for some stupid reason, SQ will not/refuse/claim it is not possible to ticket me through to MEL

So looks like I am buying revenue tix SYD>MEL about 4-ish hours after arrival

If I buy VA tickets, will the dragons allow us into the VA Domestic lounge in SYD before our flight to MEL?

In "the before times" I would have said yes, but this is our first OS trip in 3+ years so I don't know how all that works anymore...

Cheers!

I assume you have no VA status? I would be surprised if they let you in, as it’s basically a standalone domestic sector on a separate ticket.

Correct, no VA status, I don't bother with status collecting for domestic flights, and since I've barely flown anywhere in the last 3 years, I've dropped to nobody status on all my FF accounts.

Lounges aside, I couldn’t possibly hop off Singapore F and then connect to Y. Can you get a J reward to Melbourne?

No wuckers, that's what I figured. QF it is!
Or try rex for $349 one way. Great product. Basic lounge, but somewhere to wait.

To the OP… even pre covid I’m not sure arriving in F and connecting to Y would have given you lounge access. On a oneworld airline it would have, but not on Star across different carriers (same carrier eg UA->UA, LH->LH group, SQ->SQ, and OZ->OZ did, but not when crossing airlines)

If all you need is a shower/freshen up, you can buy VA lounge access on VAd flights, $65 a person.
T1 to T2 at SYD will require a bus, its the free terminal transfer bus, but you will have to carry your possessions on the bus with everyone else, or catch a taxi across.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
