Crew use it because they have better things to do then line up for the loo.... Otherwise it's nice that it's female only. The floor stays dry.

I wish. I've been on flights using a unisex loo where the floor has been terribly wet after women have used them. And I could not breathe on one occasion on account of some type of spray.

But will use a F toilet in J cabin here if there is no corresponding M toilet. I have better things to do. I'm happy to put the seat down.

It has stayed dry on my few flights. Whereas the last unisex loo I used onboard was wet from top to bottom after a male attempted some form of bath....

thanks to everyone for there comments. Obviously comes down to personal preference some love row 5 others have issues with it. We will stick with row 1 I think. Not sure about tit being a bit claustrophobic and proximity to the bar which is some other things I read. Also that sometimes you get moved for families.

As was said earlier I think any seat there is going to be good.

Row 1 always look good on the boarding pass, especially when you "allow" other passengers a sneak peek at it as you are boarding.....

You will certainly enjoy the J cabin and the J experience

Thats it I think I can obsess a bit about trying to get the perfect seats, but in the end there probably isnt one. The experience will be a great one for the family and certainly a treat flying J long haul again

Hi All

Further to this thread. I am travelling with my Wife & 2 kids in June. I usually travel PE so am not 100% familiar with the layout in J.

If we want to sit say 2 in front and 2 behind, say row 1ac and row 2ac, is there any difference apart from row 5?

Cheers

Its it's really splitting hairs. All of J is good. In your case 1AC and 2AC are great choices for your requirements of 4 pax. Row 5 is also good but it's been hyped up by some clever marketing. It's amazing what a bit of "celebrity" hype plus a thin curtain can do to an otherwise less desirable row.

I don't think row 5 will be suitable for your family, as there is only 1 row of seating in 2,3,2 config.

Yes, I was amazed at what the thin curtain can do - I have never slept so well on any aircraft. I never realised how easily I was swayed to enjoy the privacy until now!

In light of the very deep discount fares some of us have recently booked, I thought I'd bump this thread in the hope that my fare actually includes a seat :)

I have no status and my seat selection at the time of booking didn't stick. We're a party of three with a child, so exit rows are not an option even if they were somehow available. So I'm interested to know:

1. Is row 20 considered an extra leg room row (ie. costs more)?
2. Are the armrests moveable in row 20 (seat guru says no but is unreliable IMO)?
3. What's the recline like in row 25, the last row of the mini Y cabin with toilets behind?
4. How's row 25 for toilet loiterers & flushing noise?
5. Any other recommendations on the very unlikely chance I get some kind of choice?

Row 20 is a bulkhead row. Therefore the tray tables are in the armrest. This makes the armrests immovable.
As its a bulkhead row (meaning there is a vertical wall ) the legroom can be problematic for your feet but not for your knees.

I believe the recline in 25 is the same. You will hear the toilets flushing. 25 is attractive in the sense that there are only 2 seats on the window. For me the most essential part of seat selection is aisle access. The best way to get a window seat and aisle access for 2 of the 3 passenger is to put child in 25A and the two of you can be in 25B and 25D. But really any middle row of 3 is as good because both of you can have aisle access.

I'm going to be in Y to/from LAX in a few weeks. Not one of the uh, super sale fares, but $1200 through to JFK with 3x points was too good to pass up.

From the previous discussions, I've gathered row 20 is no good for those with long legs or baby fears, and SeatGuru also says row 21 is missing a window (as usual, is that reliable?).

For 2 people, would you folks recommend taking 25 A/C or H/J? On one hand, proximity to the toilets sounds less than ideal -–flushing toilets ugh, but loiterers can't be too bad if it's on the mini-cabin side? Having 2 seats in the row seems like a good idea though, at least for the flight back where sleep will most certainly be attempted!

I wouldn't go with 24 or 25, too many toilet visitors.

Row 20 (not the middle section - you get people stepping over you to move from aisle to aisle) is the best in economy and I'm about 6'1". I've only encountered babies twice; once I was upgraded to PE and the second time they moved to a row further back with an empty middle.

The rest of the front mini cabin is ok. That said, if the flight isn't too full further back may yield some empty seats.

I have done BNE LAX BNE a number of times with VA in Y and PE. When in Y I have only been in row 20. I am 6 foot and my son is 6 foot 6 and we both have had a better flight in Y than PE for leg room. Sure the seats are slightly wider in PE but being able to stretch out was a better experience. As another poster has mentioned, other passengers do try and use the gap in front of the seats as a passage to cut across. This gives you an indication of the room available. The tables are in the armrest and the armrests do not lift up. I have only experienced infants in the bulk head row twice and on both occasions the infants were really good throughout the flight. Noise cancelling head phones help too. I hope this assists.
