There is some great knowledge on this forum so I am hoping you might be able to help.

The one thing I have always wanted to be able to do is purchase lounge passes with my points. I am WP+PG myself but I think one of the things that is the nicest is being able to share your status just a little with friends and family. My mother flies maybe twice a year and I would so love to be able to purchase lounge passes to give her when she does.

is this something that was available in the past but no longer is?

The short answer: No.

QF has not now, nor has it ever (for as long as I can remember) sold single-visit access to the Qantas Club.

If one of our fellow friendly AFF members is flying on the same day as her, you may be able to ask them to guest her into the lounge. You can see who is offering guest access to a lounge from the meetings and social events thread.

Depending on where she is flying from, a Priority Pass standard membership may be of value to her.

You can buy QC membership with points , or an annual guest pass (value $320, or 50,000 points).

But to waste 50K points on something that only costs $320 would be cost-ineffective.

You can get a Y class SYD-LAX for 48,000. Value way more than $320.

Unless you just happen to have stacks of points you will never use, but you would get more bang for your buck converting them to Myer vouchers.

Thanks for your help.

I will make WP1 in May and like others am fairly underwhelmed with the benefits on offer. A couple of lounge passes to give to family and friends though or at least the ability to purchase them would be a great benefit.

I would certainly give them back my epicure membership for some passes!!
