I am considering cancelling a flight from BNE to LAX that will leave me with a $1300 Qantas credit voucher. If I then redeem the credit voucher at a later date via the Qantas website, am I able to purchase a second fare for my travelling partner that will become part of the same itinerary? ie. Is it possible to use the credit voucher for me and pay for my friend in the same booking?

I do not think you will be able to make a booking for 2 people on your credit voucher.

Worst case scenario is you book your flights with voucher and you friend books their flights separately and you try and link the bookings together.

I think it needs to be done manually (linking the bookings that is) beware though ,Mrs GPH did this for me once (travelling to the BR AKL lunch on fact) the difference in my case was my fare (in J) was part cash part refund voucher. Any way in spite of the booking appearing on my QF account. When we got to the airport it didn't exist. Moreover QF couldn't find ANY record of it on their system. I made the flight by the skin of my teeth. Plane was held up and had to be escorted to board taking luggage with me for last minute loading. The moral of the story is if we have ANY plans that involve a voucher. We check with QF to ensure it has worked.
