US DOT proposing EU 261 style compensation.

As reported in Loyalty Lobby, the DOT is proposing mandatory EU 261 style compensation including accommodation, food and cash for delays considered the airlines fault.
Looking forward to the day when we get the same.

 
Driving in this morning, the possibility of Australian getting an EU261 was discussed on Triple J morning show by the news reader. He mentioned that ACCC, Choice and Airline Consumer Advocate were pushing it, and the US response. Maybe, it will get some traction.
 
I for one, have contacted my MP on this front (about 8 weeks ago). Got no response to an email, so gave his office a call. Asked them for a response - nothing yet.
