Re: TG REMOVING F from MXP

That sucks for those affected. I'm on the A346 SYD-BKK F on July 6th. Let's hope it stays the A346!

Lots of stuff going on with TG at the moment.

-Lots of frequency reduction
-End of the BKK-LAX nonstop (A345 probably disappearing from fleet...I think they eventually intend to ditch the A346 as well)
-Changing of aircraft on route

Hopefully some of the 747s (current old All Series) with all new F, C and Y will be around soon...look like something may be scheduled on FRA from August?

Im on Thai Syd- BKK and BKK- FRA in August so hope there is no changes to these unless in the positive:)

I think TG922/923 shows as 77W...and now 920/921 shows as 747 ALL SERIES! :shock:

ALL SERIES would be very bad! But if it infact means newly refitted 7442 then that would be very good!

Well done bcworld:)......keep this infomation coming....most informative....THANKS:D

Regards M.P.

Flying out on the 20th this month, 476 to BKK and its a 744. I am not that fussed, First Class is still First Class and we all know that we paid peanuts for these flights so let's just enjoy it and have a good time. Think about all those poor sods who are stuck behind those curtains eating out of an aluminum tray whilst we all enjoy our Russian caviar washed down with vodka, straight of course :p

Re: TG REMOVING F from MXP

Sorry to say but looks like TG is pulling the A346 from MXP and replacing it with 777 (not the 300ER). This means no F cabin.

I'm guessing you will be be downgraded into J but still end up stumping up the full 150k.
:(

Check the timetable out but it looks fairly certain now. Seems like LHR is staying on A346 while SYD will switch back to A346 with lower frequency...seems like MXP is supplying the aircraft required.

Edit: saw your update that you later got all 4 pax on an F award! Not good! Perhaps you can reroute but what are the chances of finding 4F elsewhere!?

Thanks for the headsup. I rechecked my booking and its now showing these aircraft types:

TG472 SYD-BKK A340-600

TG922 BKK-FRA 777-300

TG941 MXP-BKK 777

TG475 BKK-SYD A340-600

So TG922 has gone from 747-400 to 777-300 and TG941 from A340-600 to 777. The class of travel has been downgraded on 941 from F to J but remains F on 922. Might that mean 922 is a 777-300ER with the first suites? That would be a more interesting option than another 747 flight.

At this stage I can't get too excited about any changes because Thai are likely to change aircraft at least three more times before June.

Thanks for the headsup. I rechecked my booking and its now showing these aircraft types:

TG472 SYD-BKK A340-600

TG922 BKK-FRA 777-300

TG941 MXP-BKK 777

TG475 BKK-SYD A340-600

So TG922 has gone from 747-400 to 777-300 and TG941 from A340-600 to 777. The class of travel has been downgraded on 941 from F to J but not on 922. Might that mean its a 777-300ER with the first suites? That would be a more interesting option than another 747 flight.

Yes, TG922 is definitely the 777-300ER with the suites. :D

Can't see any other changes happening on these routes before you travel.

Apparently TG is now selling F between BKK-SIN from May 1 so must be some 77W or A346 with time to spare because of all these changes.

Thanks. I'll have to ring them tomorrow and see about our F seating on 922. At the moment we still have 2A, E, F and K showing as per a 747-400 but looking at the seat map for the 777-300ER that should change to 2A, D, G and K.

Bit annoyed about missing out on the 340-600 on 941 though being bumped up to suites on 922 almost makes up for it. I guess there is no chance of downgrade compensation when flying on award tickets? Does it show which variant of 777 is going to be flying 941?

Hmm that suxs, after LH cancelled my flight to CCU i changed to TG923 specifically because it was a 747 with what looked like lie flat beds in business and i thought i would get to fly upstairs in a 747 for the first time and now they change it to a 777!!!

But the 777 you are getting has full horizontal lie flat beds in business as opposed to angled slopes on the 747...most people would prefer the 777 unless they really dislike the herringbone config.

My seats have changed on TG 476 from SYD now shows 1FN( A340-600), TG 922 BKK- FRA shows 2FN( 777-300) and back on TG 475 shows 1FN. What does FN mean? Looking at Seatguru I cant work it out. Is this good or bad news?

It means seat 1F (or 2F) Non Smoking.

It's a bit odd because obviously Non smoking goes without saying and it seems to occur randomly on some flights and not others.

Thanx BC, have the 777s been upgraded to suites on the BKK- FRA route?

TG922/3 has had the 77W with F suites since December. The timetable has just recently been updated to indicate that it's going to stay that way through this year.

What's more interesting, as I mentioned earlier, is that the other FRA flight is now showing as 747 All Series from August. All Series is the 747 version with terrible old product on board. Very unlikely they would send it to FRA so it could be the first of the refitted 747s with all new F?

This is correct. It means nothing, just ignore it.

Long time lurker, first time poster, here ;)

Just booked 3 seats in J, all on LX:
BKK - ZRH
ZRH - TLV (dest)
TLV - ZRH (stop)
ZRH - BKK

Booked as S. Asia -> Middle East rather than S. Asia -> Europe (75k vs 90k), and taxes were $118.77 each.

The destination stay is 11 days and the stopover is 2 months, so I'm pretty chuffed :D

Great first time post! That's what we like to see, super happy first poster rather something negative and please help me posts! :p

Come back and write a trip report if you have the time ;)

Just put this on hold this morning:

SYD -> BKK F TG - Forced layover for 23hr 50mins
BKK -> USM J TG Stopver
USM ->BKK J TG
BKK -> CDG F Suite (thanks for confirming this again bcworld) TG - Destination

CDG -> MUC J LH
MUC -> BKK F TG
BKK -> SYD F TG

This is for travel between Dec/Jan. Will update miles deduction and taxes once we've confirmed the flights but more than likely this will be it unless there is some magic F availability on TG from Paris or Frankfurt back to BKK in early Jan.

Very nice! Particularly interesting to see the backtracking from Samui...enjoy the airport there!

Definitely keep an eye on FRA as it is likely to be seeing either the 747 refitted with all new F (920/921) or A380 by then.
