First of all I would review this thread. Then get your skates on and register with USAirways.

You also need to look at their Star Alliance redemption table to see how many points it will be (South Pacific to Europe). I think it is 120,000.

You will then need to sign up to an ANA account and use their website to search for available flights. You need to access the search function after you have signed into your ANA account. Once you find it it is pretty easy to use. Look for dates and be flexible.

The 100% bonus offer ends on the 31st of March so you need to get on to it before that. You will need to buy points in groups of 50,000 but you'll figure that out.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

And not to mention that you need to create US Dividend Miles account ASAP! You can only buy points after the account is active for 10 days! Not much time left!

I have read the thread and signed up for ANA and US just now.

So I can see you can buy 50k and get another 50k for free, however I would then need another 20k right?

Cant seem to see any availbility atm though thats the only problem. I see they are valid for 18 month rolling.

You need to be pretty flexible to find flights.

Just looked:
12 May MEL-BKK or SYD-BKK availability in J for two people on Thai
13 May BKK-LHR or BKK-FRA availablity in J for two people on Thai or Lufthansa to FRA.

What dates to you have and when looking at the ANA tool make sure you search each sector individually. I have also been backwards and forwards over the dates so there is space on Thai.

You could also look at Asian via ICN though the timings aren't great and it appers they are request only which doesn't bode well.

On the way home:
27 May BKK-LHR availability in J for two people on Thai
29 May BKK-SYD availability in J for two people on Thai

I can see plenty of seats.

I haven't bought points but I assume you just log out and log in to buy the additional 20,000.

You can buy 50k and get another 50k free, then you can gift 50k and get another 50k free too.

I set up 2 accounts, 1 for me, one for my wife and bought 50k in each, then gifted 25k to each other, ending up with 150k in each account. You'd just need to set up another account, then gift 10k from that account into your original account to end up with the extra 20k that you need.

Hope that makes sense!

As SR81 said, there seems to be pretty reasonable availability on Thai in May, just had a look myself and there are connecting flights from SYD to LHR on the 12th and 16th of May and plenty more options if you spend a night in Bangkok on the way there.

Also (again as SR81 said :)) you'll need to be flexible with your dates to find these flights.

Good luck :)

Yeah cool.

Think I have the gist of this. Gonna get the miles booked once the 10 days is up.

Don't forget that you can put the reservation on hold before you buy the points. They'll hold the reservation for 72 hours before you have to pay with the points.

I put in my reservation 9 days after joining the program, then bought the points on the 11th day (after reading some posts about points not being credited if you bought them exactly 10 days after joining), phoned them back and got it all ticketed.

The points appear pretty much instantaneously in your account(s).

It is really a super deal!
Excellent availability on Thai and Asiana.

Usually Thai and Asiana have good availability. Singapore Air would have virtually none given that they don't release J seats for A380/77W/34x flights.

Yeah SQ wont release availbility which is a shame.

Considering going first class as I dont think I will get a chance to do so in the very near future and that price its bargain.

Do it! Long haul First is just fun and for an extra $400 I think it is worth it.

Let us know how you go.

Do these promotions happen often, or is it likely to get extended? It's too late to register now and buy miles...

I need to book a trip to Europe, and this would have been perfect!

I read on Flyertalk that this is the second in roughly 6 months that US has run a promo like this - the last one was 2.5x bonus!

I read that they're doing them to raise cash as they're in dire straits financially. . .

Hey all!

I posted a while ago saying I bought some miles looking to book a trip. And it's all done!

I managed to get:

PER-BKK C
BKK-HKG F
HKG-FRA F
FRA-ZRH C, Stopover

ZRH-JFK F, Destination

JFK-FRA F
FRA-ZRH C
ZRH-BKK F
BKK-PER C

All in, including taxes for AU$2200 pp using the miles promotion.

So I'm off to sample first class and all the lounges =)

If anyone has any questions about the booking i'd be happy to help!

How did you get this routing? As I read it is South Pacific via Asia and Europe to North America. I thought that you would need to be on the most direct route.

When and where are stopovers etc.

This is stella for what you paid. Well done.

Unfortunatly my planned trip to the UK got shot down as the parents are coming over in September and December now, so holding off going there and I dont have any other holidays planned apart from Vegas in Feb 11 for a bucks do, so I am holding off for now.

Hi sr81,

Only one stopover, in Zurich.

With US airways it seems the routings are not fixed, many people have done south pacific-asia-europe-na, or south pacific-asia-middle east-europe-na!

With stopovers the rules say one stopover, and none on an open-jaw. Some people have managed to get two stopovers, one on the way there and one on the way back, though.

Good work peachy3333, that looks like a great trip for a bargain price. I'm guessing that you're flying LX from ZRH to JFK, that should be pretty nice in F!
