I got the 100% offer, but when you do the maths with the A$ at about 91 US cents it does add an extra couple of hundred collars which slightly takes the shine off...

Will still buy some amount to top up...

Yeah I know what you are saying!! I wasn't sure whether to buy some but I topped the account up to 150k today, so that's next years trip to Europe in First now paid for.

It is a shame the $ has gone down but when I first got on board in 2009 the $ was at similar levels so its still great value. My thinking was if the $ kept falling I would have regretted not buying more miles, if it heads back up for some reason or another then so be it.

Yeah i only learnt about USDM around 2011 so had mostly enjoyed buying into it at rates above parity... From the heady days of around A$1=US$1.10 its not almost a $400 differential...

Still very cheap for 1st class although i've only used it for J redemptions, but even then $2500+ for something that would usually cost $10,000+ is hard to argue with... As long as more airlines don't stop allowing redemptions... Do LH and UA still not allow bookings with USDMs???

It was...but a mile was also $0.025 (they've increased 40% since then!).

This has probably been asked a thousand times before but here goes.........

My wife and I both received the 100% bonus and want to gift to to our friends who didn't. So how does the gifting work?

Cheers,
Aaron

gifting is simple... just go to YOUR account, and follow the prompts to gift to another person (you will need their dividend miles account and I think email?)

i would urge you to exercise caution in gifting. the presumption is that you will have received money in exchange for the gift and all accounts (yours and theirs) could be closed for audit.

i know it's rare, but it does happen. and you can't speak to usdm to get a resolution of the matter.
