US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Gee i hope it is the case.

in fact there is a line of thought/anecdotal evidence suggesting AA has better award availability on QF flights than might be available to QF's own members!

the only real time I can think of where QF would be better would be at the 365 day window... hasn't opened to AA members at that stage.

Well I have certainly found flights on AA not showing on QF. Though I'm not like some here, one data point does not indicate a trend!

Have a USDM booking might need to change dates only what is best No. to call now?.
I recently changed a U.S. Air booking through the US number I have always used for U.S. div miles bookings. I did not change date, I was changing class and carrier. The only problem was they tried to charge a change fee and I had to point out under AA rules no change fee was applicable. After checking they agreed no fee was payable.

Our next trip was ticketed in March. After seeing availability from DUS to KUL via LHR, I called AA. Extra taxes via London was almost $700 per pax. So I have kept bookings as they are: DUS to DOH via MUC, then overnighting in Doha to connect to KUL.

They shouldn't include the luxury departure tax if you are only in transit in LHR. Looking at ITA matrix the total taxes, fees and carrier charges for a BA/MH connection DUS-LHR-KUL are 289 euros per person.

QR via MUC (using Air berlin to MUC) comes in at a total of 228 euros for all taxes fees and fuel... so a difference of 60 odd euros via London (assuming no stopover).

With stopover taxes fees and charges would be 539 euros.

Ok so I didn't realise this. I'm going to call them again. LHR is just a transit...say day connection. Ty for pointing this out.

I have a wedding in Koh Samui in Feb 2016 which I'm looking at flights to (preferably 2 x J). I have 180K in AA miles and 250K QFF points to use. What would be my best plan of attack in routing? Have had a look at QFF classic flights (SYD-BKK)and came up with nothing:( I thought I was early.

May i ask what mileage prices you had to pay if it was an upgrade?

No 1W carriers fly to USM and Bangkok Airways BKK-USM can be $250 oneway in Y pp fot a 1 hour flight. If you want to go a 1W carrier to BKK try CX. If youre a bit flexible it should be available.

A good bet is buying LMs to go TG J SYD-BKK-USM. I did this a few years ago and it was great value.

I would look at MH via KUL

There was no additional mileage charge as I had an F booking, but had one sector with no F Available. An F flight came up on another carrier and the only cost was in respect of tax adjustment

Anyone booked MH between BNE and KUL?

Speculation that service will cease in early August...dummy booking on MH.com shows nothing after 8/8.

I have a US Div Mile booking in November which I wish to move the trip to Jan/Feb and make it longer. The departure city, stop over city and destination city are the same but the stop over will be reversed from outward to inward bound. Does anyone know whether this is permissible and if so at what cost. I cant locate the US Div rules and am confused as to what rules will apply - AA or US?
I assume there also must be a cut off date for US Div flights?

Judging by a couple of one-hour conversations I had with a "double agent" on Friday there's also a lot of confusion at their end. But she repeatedly said that they're "not charging for these sorts of changes" at the moment, and seemed willing to be as flexible as possible. Mine was a change of routing and dates while keeping the departure and destination unchanged.

Gday

Swan the cut off for pushing back USDM award redemption's is a maximum of 1 year from the date you originally booked it. I booked a redemption of the last day of USDM(25th March 2015) for a trip in September 2015. I rang up a couple of months ago to push it back to next year and tried to book a departure of 27th March 2016 but they rejected it. Booked my departure for earlier in March 2016. Pretty happy as the plane on that route has been upgraded for my outbound leg!

In terms of fees for changes. I didnt pay any. It was an identical route just a date change. I would have assumed that a route change as per Trixydoza would trigger a fee but he got lucky. I dont think there are any hard or fast rules in this interim period(ie until all USDM award redemption's have flushed through the system) but once that happens it will be AA rules all the way!

Pele.
