Next month I'll have the exciting opportunity to try US Airways as a new Oneworld member to/from Phoenix. My US Airways flights leave from and arrive into T3.

There is no lounge for US Airways/Oneworld members in T3.:shock::shock:
Their website advise that members can use the T4 Admirals Club, and then use the airside shuttle bus to get back to T3.

I presume after flying in from Aus, I can leave my bags at the TBIT bag drop, as QF will be able to tag them to PHX? Really dumb question for someone who regards herself as veteran LAX traveller ... just being "new" to US Airways in OW, I'm a bit uncertain ...

So then I can walk to T4, do the TSA shuffle there, enjoy the lounge, and then take the bus to T3 when required? Or just go to T3 and suck it in without lounge access.

Then, on the way home, is there an airside shuttle that'll get me from arriving in T3 to TBIT for my QF16 departure (as QF16 will be departing from TBIT by then)?
Yes, I know it's a short walk from T3 to TBIT; but I'll happily avoid extra security checks if I can!! Although remembering my last transit from T4 to TBIT in Oct last year, the walk from the bus drop off to the QF lounge was so long that maybe TBIT security is a better option.

Oh the dilemmas of such travel intricacies. Thank Deity for AFF, because even my spouse would think I'm bonkers about putting so much thought into this weeks before a trip!! :p:cool:

Curious to know how you go (or anyone else's experience). I'm travelling late May and transferring to US for LAX-PHL-YOW. I have a 4 1/2 hr layover - which should be adequate to get into T4 and then shuttle to T3. A shame the TBIT - T4 connector hasn't opened yet.

I passed through LAX on Tuesday from SYD. The short answer is go direct to T3 after dropping luggage at transfer. If your QF issued BPs for US don't show "Zone 1" for F and/or WP/SG status get them reissued at the US checkin.

Go through security - there is a priority lane - but it was pretty quiet when I went through. Proceed to Gate 39 - first on the right BEFORE the round section.

Shuttles leave every 20mins. On the hour, 20 past and 20 to the hour. It takes about 10-15 mins of up close plane spotting to arrive at T4. The reverse shuttle leaves from T4 G44 every 20mins - same as above. Note the correct line to wait in. AA eagle and T6 have separate shuttles.

With a 4 1/2 hr layover it was ok to get a shower in but a PITA if you had a tight connection or delays.

I'm not returning via the US, but if I was, I'd walk from T3 to TBIT.

In the end, on the way over, I went to T3 with my suitcase, and tried to get on an earlier flight (was at T3 about 35mins after QF11 landed, and still had 2.5-3hrs before my flight to PHX). There were no earlier flights, and I just mooched around T3. Waiting in the line at Starbucks took a decent chunk of my time. :p I didn't want to bother with the bus to/from T4. Might have been different if it was later in the day and I could have gotten some Stacy's Pita Chips.

On the way back, I ended up flying in from PHX early in the morning, and had the day in LAX. I just went straight to TBIT to check in for QF16 home.

Something happened with my LAX-PHX flight, and the points haven't credited. It seems even after handing over my card and getting a new US boarding pass at LAX, my QFF number wasn't linked properly.
