Urgent MEL - LHR

Hi All.

My Nan has had a mild stroke this evening and I want to get to LHR during the week. Does any member have and idea about how to get there using oneworld/deathstar? I need Lounge access and would prefer J.

I'm not made of money and am scared of flying. Your suggestions are welcomed!!

I’d guess JQ to Singapore and then a flight from there, or maybe JQ to BKK and then a flight from there might be cheaper.

As for nuts on the menu, either request a meal or don’t eat, most dishes will have them in.

Difficult, if you are constrained financially, want to travel J and on oneworld and obviously want to get their as quick as you can. Maybe you should investigate a premium economy fare via SIN or HKG. Unless you have status will not get lounge access, but either airport you can purchase that for $20-$30 or so.

Otherwise, a longer solution involves getting to BKK or HKG and picking up cheap business class fares from one of those locations on Royal Jordanian or Finnair.

If not constrained to oneworld, I'm pretty sure both Thai and Emirates have mixed class fares that are not too expensive (TG involves Y to BKK then J, EK involves J to DXB then Y).

I imagine this is a difficult time, so wishing you the best, but in such circumstances I would avoid LCC's unless there was absolutely no alternative.

I've flown with Etihad & Virgin Atlantic and never had nuts in a meal yet, for J class Etihad seems pretty reasonable for short notice, Hope your Nan gets better soon

I am QF Gold and am OK Deathstar to BKK... I would prefer Oneworld to LHR though. I would prefer a cheaper option but really need to be there before Sunday next. I really want 'J' or 'F' but want the best option. Thanks in advance.

Just found a good deal on finnair (J all the way & oneworld), I picked Tuesday but the price seems the same through the week

"Australia", "oneworld" and "cheap J" don't go well together.

Some options:

- Find your way to HKG and pick up a Qantas Premium Economy (From ~$A1800) return HKG-LHR
- Qantas J from HKG is about $A4K.
- Royal Jordanian J ex HKG - about $A3.5K

SIN isn't a good option due to high J/PE fares.
BKK probably isn't a good option either for the same reason.

There are many OW carriers which have flights from Asia. Finding the right transit point could save you some serious coin, especially if you're prepared to fly to/from Asia in Economy.

Do some price searches ex-HKG/SIN/BKK/NRT and maybe PVG on the various OW websites - Cathay / Royal Jordanian / BA / Finnair / Qantas etc.

Having to leave in the next few days does cause some big issues with availability of cheap airfares, but you might be able to find something that fits.
