We are booked on IB JNB-MAD-FCO tonight using QF points. This morning another flight set has appeared on the booking reference - BA JNB-LHR-FCO so that there are two complete sets of flights. Weare listed as confirmed on all 4 flights. I've spoken to QF and they say BA has added the new flights and they don't know what is happening, speak to BA. BA say it's on QF stock so speak to them. We can't help you. Should I worry or should I sort it out at the airport? It's relevant to know as I maybe need to change pick-up arrangements at FCO.

If its within 24 hours of travel which it sounds like it is operating carrier ie IB has to sort it out. I would get to the airport super early and go to IB check as first step then BA. Also check flightaware google etc to see if IB flight is cancelled that might give you some indication of what is going on. Good luck

IB flight is still listed and inbound appears to have arrived. BA counter should open before IB as their flight is 25 minutes earlier.

I'd be trying BA/IB again.
Most likely they have proactively moved you for some reason.

About 18mtha ago I was on Finnair (booked using AA points) VIE-HEL-HKG.

Had noticed the HEL-HKG flight was showing a delay before leaving to the airport. Enroute I suddenly got a popup (thanks Google) about my Qatar flight from VIE-DOH.

And an email from Finnair. Essentially they'd rebooked me VIE-DOH-HKG due to the delay (and ultimate cancellation on the 2nd leg)

BA won’t talk to me. IB can’t get through to . Highly frustrating.

It looks like the non-stop IB flights MAD-JNB and vv are now operated by Level Airlines, a low cost subsidiary holding company IAG (which owns IB and BA). The JNB-MAD service is a code share with IB - IB6058.

Checking the IB website for flights from JNB to MAD over the next few days they only offer code-shares on BA via LHR, not the Level airlines flight.

So it looks like IB has moved you off Level airlines and onto the BA service to LHR. IB code shares with BA, although as an award I would have thought you'd be on the BA code rather than IB code share?

That explains a bit Thank you. The flight number was IB6050.

I would suggest ringing QF again, and quote that BA have said they can't touch it.
You were originally flying IB then I would go to their counter first if you show BA your paperwork they would say you are flying IB go and see them.

It's a little bit confusing... checking flightaware it shows the IB6050 last operating over a week ago: Iberia (IB) #6050 ✈ FlightAware

This has now been replaced by a slightly retimed IB6058: Iberia (IB) #6058 ✈ FlightAware

Both pictures however show a Level Airlines aircraft.

The IB website only shows flights via London on BA metal, until next week when the IB6058 shows up as being bookable, but only in economy class (under business class it says 'not available').

So I suspect someone realised too late you were still booked on the defunct 6050 and then either (1) the 6058 was now booked out, or (2) it's now being operated by Level, so they moved you to BA.

I'd be heading out to the airport anticipating the BA flight (ie BA check-in times). And arrive early in case they need to sort out any ticketing issues.

Thank you again. The BA flight is at1920 so we'll get out there before 1620. I note that the IB flight number has changed to 6058. It's another question why both flight sets are now on our PNR.

No issue at the airport as we checked into the BA flight. The IB flights are still on the booking. Thanks for the helpful advice.

I suspect the IB flights are oversold. They are not being operated by Level.

The flight is still on the departure board and also flightaware. I suspect that my booking reference was just stuffed up by not removing the old flights.

Another example of oneworld not being one world. This buck passing when passengers need assistance the most is ridiculous.
