Upgrading to Business using Points - how much SC?

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. If I want to upgrade to business class using points on international short/long haul flights from economy, will I get SC points on the business tier or on the original economy tier?

You'd think it'd be the business tier but for some reason I remember reading somewhere a while ago that you get SC depending on the original booking paid with cash...or maybe that was another airline that I was looking at?

If someone could help me clarify then that would be greatly appreciated.

With such upgrades, earn is as per original booking class.

This is in the Terms and conditions of Velocity and confirmed by experience.

I used VA bid upgrade once, paid $350 on top of about $249 or something from PER - SYD, and only got SC on the original fare subclass of Y. J in VA transAustralia not bad.
