I've already mentioned many times that I always need to book tickets in whY when travelling for work...:(
I have an upcoming MEL-SYD-HKG-MEL trip ticketed by CX (the MEL-SYD segment is on QF). I paid $1890 and I just saw that CX sells the SYD-HKG-MEL in Y+ for $2200. I have two questions:
1- Can I just call CX and ask to pay for an upgrade to Y+
2- All segments are currently booked in L class, if I upgrade to E class on CX will the QF flight now book in B or Y? Will it cost me $8000 instead of $400 to upgrade...

The answer to 1 is No - the only option is to cancel and rebook and cop whatever fee is chargeable.

Think its unlikely that the connections would need to be in full Y.

OK, thanks. I did a mock booking and the QF flight would now book in K (so just $100 more). Unfortunately, I can't cancel the booking because the money would go back on my corporate credit card...

did you ring and ask? I thought some fares were upgradeable? might be worth trying.
