Hi all,
just wanted to ask if its worth the points (45000) to upgrade from J to F on QF93 to LAX later this year. My return trip is on a 744 so no option there. I have plenty of points, and may not need them over the coming 12 months. I have been more than happy with J on the A380. Is it REALLY that much better? A few pointers might just assist. I know it's no guarantee anyway, but if its worth it- why not! Thanks!

I could write a 10 paragraph answer explaining this ( and others will) but instead I'll be brief:
YES :D

EDITED ( as others agree) : Shrek was a veteran of 747 F and a virgin of A380 F. He refused to be swayed by my arguments in favour of the points upgrade. On his inaugural A380 F flight he texted me on landing :
" I get it " ;)

Thanks for your quick replies. I gather from your answers, it's worth it!!!
I will apply for an upgrade in a couple of minutes. However, one more question!!
What makes it so good. I mean I usually sleep pretty well in J in 11 or 12A and you wake up almost in LA. I guess on the other hand, it could be worth just staying up and sleeping when I get there! Thanks again.

Seat/ suite and service. Lower passenger to FA ratio, better food, Taittinger Comtes de Champagne.
Its very hard to go back.
The difference between Y and J is massive J and F not so great but for a really long flight, if you have the points then IMO its a value proposition

Agree with everyone else.

In the words of Nike

JUST DO IT :D

Couldnt agree more with Princess Fiona. First is an amazing experience on QF A380. Go for it.

Yes, but beware. J will just seem cough afterwards.

And you will later come to think that 5K was just a awful seat, terrible experience  Must get 2 or 3 A next time etc etc.

DO IT! At least once. I did it last year. Would I do it again? Probably not, but would depend on points balance, whether I was saving points for a specific goal, how quickly I could replenish the points etc. As Princess F said, HUGE step up form Y to J, lesser step from J to F.

No, don't apply for it

Because I am doing it (points upgrade) on that flight

All in jest !!!!

Hi legroom,

didnt think I actually mentioned dates:D. lol.
However, too late already applied.

Have just applied for upgrade!!!!
Fingers crossed.
Anybody have any comments on odds of getting this upgrade?

I have had 100% on all upgrade requests recently both east and west - hanging for the F host call on Tuesday.

AFAIK your QF status will be an important factor (P1 will trump WP, for example).

Others include flight loading, number of other (real, not in jest) requests.
