I did not notice they removed this from the benefit page around 3 weeks ago. Still applicable to QT hotels but I always found it strange they added it to all membership levels. It would have been nice to keep it for some membership levels as an incentive to book with them but it only costs a few dollars more to book the better room so I suppose no big loss.

So I am unsure then why my last two stays still got an upgrade so not sure if it was due to being bookings made before the removal or just luck. Did anyone else get regularly upgraded and was it just one room level each time.

Have been staying at Rydges and QTs regularly over the last year - some were questionable upgrades (QTs), others were clearly best in class upgrades (Rydges Tamworth, Newcastle), but in saying that it is really too different than pre-COVID. It is very much hotel dependant and if you are a regular or not I suspect (which is fair enough).

It was one of the many odd things about last year. Rydges Norwest always used to give me upgrades (even when I stayed there as a Crowne Plaza and a Novotel many years back) even when there was no need. Yet throughout 2020 when it should have been upgrading me due to status, it stopped (so I half shifted to another hotel when staying in Sydney). Earlier this year it did upgrade me as if getting back to normal. Now as you noticed, Rydges has removed the benefit, so it'll be interesting to see what happens next time I stay there.

The ease of getting 5 stays to supposedly get the upgrades was why I liked Rydges. I was really disappointed when I stayed at the QT Gold Coast earlier in the year and the one time I've ever requested early checkin at a Rydges as a status benefit, rather uselessly, the room was only available ten minutes before standard checkin would have had it available.

I have stayed at 2 different Rydges since the benefit stopped. The hotel that mentioned they had stopped the upgrades still gave me one. Luckily on the last sale I had changed all my bookings to the better room as price difference was less than $20 night.

Another Rydges I have started staying at sill upgrades me from a Queen Suite to a One bedroom apartment. My next stay will be a base room at $85 night for Melbourne so am curious to see what I get then .

I would like to see Rydges bring back upgrades even if it meant increasing the stay requirement to achieve it.

Stayed at Rydges Melbourne last weekend In a King Suite - hotel had some guests but was far from being full.

As a PGR Black member received no upgrade, zero recognition and no offer of a late checkout, even had to ask for my standard welcome drink

Locanda restaurant on the ground floor was very good though and did receive the 50% discount on dinner and drinks.

I just completed a stay in Adelaide and there was no mention of room upgrades. I had booked the second lowest room but was surprised to open the room door to see I had received a suite. Hotel felt busy so likely explained the upgrade. Just find it strange they don't mention it unlike Hilton who would always make a comment.

I have a stay back in Melbourne in a base room soon which I booked for $85 a night last year. Will be interesting to see if I will need to pay extra to get a better room seeing as upgrades where a benefit when I made the booking.
