Hi all new to this forum so be nice :D. I fly quite a bit domestically for work and have been using Qantas mainly but since status match last year to Virgin i have been flying Virgin and all the time and are loving it. I used to be able to use points to upgrade a cheapest discount fare to business on departure in the lounge with Qantas. Is this possible with Virgin? From what i can see trawling through here and Virgin website it seems only option for upgrades is Flexi fares and i never fly on flexi? Is this so? Seems silly given i could upgrade Qantas cheap cough ticket and often did for longer flights like Perth - Syd etc. Hoping i can do the same on Virgin or this may be reason alone to push on with Qantas.

So far im enjoying virgin and will probably use them exclusively now. I have 450k of qantas points to use and will probably try and get some business class flights to LAX with my wife if i can find some.

Yes, basically upgrades are only available from flexi fares. On balance I think it works in well with the goal of getting passengers to buy more expensive tickets.
