Hi all,

I am flying on a flexible PE ticket , 2 pax, with CX in September (first time with CX, so apologies if this is a silly question) from SYD - HKG - CDG, and return MXP - HKG - SYD.

After purchasing my tickets I received an option to request an upgrade with a cash bid, which I did with the minimum amount required to bid. Even 1 of the 4 legs would be welcome if successful. My questions are:

- does anyone know generally how likely one is to receive an upgrade with a cash bid with CX? My only experience is with QF upgrade requests with points
- I was QF Gold / OW Sapphire at the time I booked the tickets, now I am QF Platinum / OW Emerald. Does anyone know if OW status is taken into account with CX upgrade bids, and if so, would they consider my status now or at the time of requesting the upgrade? And if they only consider the status at the time of upgrade request, should I cancel and re-request?

Many thanks!

I suspect you'd only be able to guess the probability by looking at the remaining availability, like you would with QF upgrades.

Their upgrade bid FAQs specifically mention CX members having priority so I wouldn't expect OWS to give you any edge. Given that you can freely change/cancel your bid, I would just do it if it gives you peace of mind!
